Mtn. West bans Boise St. from wearing all blues

We can agree to disagree. You guys made some good points that I was already aware of (timing) and agree with but I still think that this ruling by the conference is silly and too much is being made out of the color of their uni's/field. And I still feel that Boise State was/is just damn good and was good enough to dominate mid-major's without that being due, in large part, to them "blending in" with their field.

They did okay against a damn good Oklahoma team on a neutral field so I think "they're just that much better than their conference opponents were" is pretty believable.

I mean, I think kicking a field goal at the open end of Heinz Field was/is hard for the Steelers kicker even though they have more experience kicking there than opposing kickers. Sure, there's some advantage in regards to being more familiar with it but it's still tough as shit IMO.

Agree with your whole post..especially about people making too much out of the field color. Like I said, there is a small advantage--but it's not like that's the only reason Boise has been so dominant.

I still think banning wearing all blues is a good ruling though; simply because even if it is just a small advantage--it's still an advantage.

    Fair enough.

It may provide some advantage, but while QB/WR is about timing, it's also about the QB doing checkdowns and finding the receiver. So he still has to battle that blue on blue just like any other QB.

And your kicker example...I just don't think at the college level that most kickers have any advantage. They might know the wind swirls, but it's not like they spend a bunch of time on wind studies, and the wind doesn't stay constant.
I'll agree that I may be giving too much credit to things. I was attempting to point out that every stadium/arena has quarks, and the home team is much more used to it than the visiting team. I think my CBB example with Vandy is a much better one

I looked on their website, and their indoor facility (or the plans for the new one that their building, not sure) is a plain ole green field. I didn't have enough time to look because I had to get to work, so I'll look harder.

I too will agree with all of this. I'm not trying to take anything away from Boise because they're a good team/program.
