O-Zone writer takes national media to task for inept and biased work
-
WriterbuckeyeO-Zone writer Tony Gerdman has written an exemplary piece taking the national (and local) media to task for its lazy, biased and inept work in the Ohio State investigation.
He clearly shows how these "journalists" did not do the jobs they were assigned to do in the way journalists should work, and shames them for their obvious bias when it became obvious the NCAA was not going to come down on OSU the way they had pushed for.
It is a thing of beauty...

OneBuckeyeSomeone should forward this to Hammer. I bet he is in meltdown mode today.
-
TiernanGreat article but every ND, scUM, SEC, Pac 12 hater in the nation will still claim OSU somehow pulled strings and "got off light". Media Perception not The Truth is what rules minds today.

Con_AlmaWhat were the penalties handed out?

They haven't been. Aug. 12 is the hearing, but actual penalties probably won't be announced until sometime in the middle of the season.
All of this media outrage is based solely on the fact the NCAA told OSU it wouldn't be adding allegations like loss of control or failure to monitor. -
vball10setexcellent, and this paragraph pretty much says it all...Many folks responded to Dodd with just such a comment. As you would expect, he chose not to respond, because he would have to admit he was wrong, and that's something a lot of people have a hard time doing. That's why we saw so much rage on Friday.

sleeperI read the article and clicked on all the ad links too. A+ work.

You didn't even bother to read it, did you? -

wouldn't that require being able to read? -

yes thats correct. so if you need me to read it to you, just ask -

actually i did. and if this article was talking about usc , LSU or auburn i guarantee whiner would call it a hack job. -

Okay--btw, do you read in all lower case letters too? Just askin' -

So do you think the writer has a point? Or are you one of the sheep who believes that hackjob journalism that circled around OSU's current situation? -

I don't care about that, what I care about is that YOU characterized it as a hack job. What in the article is incorrect, or is it just your personal biases that won't let you acknowledge facts? -

Don't be fooled....we both know he didn't read it.
Shit journalism is shit journalism. I don't care if it deals with OSU, USC, USA, Iraq, Iran, whatever. -

True. But shit journalism called out by a homer blogger doesn't exactly add to the case. What in the hell would you expect the O-Zone to write? -

Attacking the messenger instead of the message actually proves Gerdman's point. What in the column was incorrect? -

So what his article spot on or not? Regardless of his affiliation. -

Just because he writes about the home team doesn't mean it's not the truth. He backed up all his points with links to the schlock journalism. If you're out to make a point, it's hard to do any better than he did. -

Using that logic, I would've expected The Lantern to be biased as well...just sayin' -
ts1227Eh, school newspapers have journalism students who like to break news of any sort just to get their names out there, it's not too surprising from that perspective.
I'm not saying the article was wrong (not saying it was 100% correct in my opinion either), but when it comes to this stuff it's pretty subjective. Fanatics call anything other than a 12-0 prediction, bow down to the masters article as shit journalism. Haters think anything other than viewing the program as the antichrist 24/7 is shit journalism. It's the nature of college sports. The national media people aren't going to apologize because they don't think they did anything wrong, and the O-Zone will write this because they think the media did everything wrong. -

The problem with this view is that the O-Zone wrote about factual errors on the part of various "journalists", not matters of opinion.ts1227;840879 wrote:Eh, school newspapers have journalism students who like to break news of any sort just to get their names out there, it's not too surprising from that perspective.
