I suppose Boise State (and maybe BYU, Houston, and SMU) could join with Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Baylor, and Texas Tech. Although Oklahoma and Boise State would dominate that conference. Boise State is a surprisingly good fit, especially with their wrestling program.
Last year there was talk of Kansas, K-State, Missouri and Iowa joining the football playing Big East to form an all sports conference (this was before the TCU invite). Bill Self confirmed to the press this deal was very close to happening. Conference would have consisted of the following:
West
Kansas
K-State
Iowa St
Missouri
UC
UL
East
UCONN
Syracuse
Rutgers
WVU
Pitt
USF
That would make a decedent football conference and likely the strongest basketball conference in the country.
