Who is excited for next season?

  • sirclovis
I know that this off-season has been pretty awful for Buckeye fans, but I am really excited for this next season. We may get slapped with LOIC from the NCAA and get USC-esque penalties, but regardless OSU will play and it will be exciting. Heck it will be fun, for once, being the underdog in most of the games this coming season.

OSU will still win the Big Ten and go to a BCS bowl game and win.
  • thedynasty1998
I actually agree with this. I never liked Pryor and at times just couldn't stand to see him have success because of his attitude. It will be refreshing to have Miller or Graham along with a bunch of hungry and inexperienced players.

Plus with the pride that a lot of the players have, and certainly Fickell included, I think they play with a chip on their shoulders. I expect a few losses but I will certainly enjoy watching them.

Bowl game? Maybe in 3-4 years.

Haha yeah I am not getting my hopes up for a bowl game, but how would the Big Ten Championship work? If we're hammered with bowl bans would we still be eligible to play in the Big Ten Championship if we made it?

    I will take that bet.

I'll be shocked if the NCAA prevents the premier program in the country from the post season.

I agree with this as well. I never want to see Ohio State not have a shot at a national championship, but I love following teams that don't have huge expectations and that have a chip on their shoulder, which I think both will apply this year, and the next few years. I just hope it isn't bad enough that we lose recruits or studs transfer though. Whoever plays on these teams that represents themselves with class will be totally loved by the Buckeye community.

I think most times you are retarded on purpose. I almost don't even feel like mentioning what happened to USC, which was the premier team of the decade. You'll just say some shit that's either not backed up or supported by arbitrary facts.

Which school won more BCS bowls and BCS titles?

I am...as it's been said many times these last few weeks, it'll be an "us against the world" mentality with this team, and as a fan, I'll adopt this mantra as well.....and on 11/26, after we kick tsun's ass yet again, it'll be that much sweeter ('cause that will prolly be our bowl game)...GO BUCKS!!!

I think a "postseason" ban would include a conference championship game but I'm not 100% sure about that.

That would be up to the Big Ten. Delaney said he will not make any decisions until after the NCAA concludes their investigation.

BTW...I am VERY excited....for OSU Basketball season next year!! ;)

I'm excited! Would love nothing more than to run the table and win the Big Ten regular season title(assuming we won't be eligible for a CCG or BCS Bowl). Can you imagine how pissed the rest of the country would be if that happened?!?

You and others need to wake up. A team playing for absolutely nothing is what we will be dealing with. To run the table is completely unrealistic. Look at USC last year. Playing for nothing. They would show up for one game, the next game, a no show. 8-5 season. That is what we will be looking at next year, and possibly beyond. Fickell will have his work cut out to motivate this team week in, and week out. It won't be easy. He is not in a real good position right now.
  • OneBuckeye
Still don't know why everyone thinks we will be playing for nothing. USC's issues do not equal OSU's issues. We will not get a bowl ban we will not lose scholarships.

    Ah finally someone being realistic.

Look, the talent and motivation is certainly there to not exclude the possibility of running the table. But if there is a bowl ban, all of a sudden that motivation decreases across what my guess would be a lot of players. If there's no bowl ban, watch out.

That being said, I'm still excited to root on this team, and I'll still feel damn proud reppin the Scarlet and Gray.

Not to mention a new coach and probably true freshman QB at the helm.

Not saying they will get a bowl ban or they won't, but IF the NCAA does ban them, would that 100% be for this season? OSU goes in front of the NCAA mid August, and there has been chatter that might be pushed back if more stuff is found out. Previous cases show that it takes 2-3 months for the NCAA to actually hand out the punishment which could be sometime in November. Would they (or the Big Ten for that matter) impose a post season ban with a week or two left in the regular season? I'd think if the ruling came out then, OSU could appeal the sanctions similar to what Kiffin did to buy them a couple more months of bowl eligibility. Not sure if stuff like that has been handed out mid season before or not.

Very good point. Michigan didn't find out until after their last game. And they went before the NCAA in August as well.

I wouldn't say they're playing for nothing, at least this year one could say they might be playing for Tressel...especially the Michigan game. Not to mention do you remember when the OSU basketball team had a postseason ban? Played their hearts out and shocked undefeated Illinois. This is still a talented team that knows how to win. I will say that I am excited for the season at least to finally turn the focus to what the Buckeyes are doing on the field. One thing they won't be playing with for a change is expectations so each win will be enjoyed more than in years' past.

With that said the basketball point is interesting. Matta has a chance to really enhance the program here the next couple years.

'nuff said--and this "realistic" crap is just that....OSU most certainly has the talent and all the motivation they need--even if there IS a ban

I think to use a lack of motivation is a very poor excuse. These guys quit after they lost to Wisconsin last year? They are still playing for pride, for each other and for themselves. A lot of these guys want to play in the NFL so they are not going to bring it every week because they can't play in a bowl game? I don't buy it and I certainly hope this isn't an excuse we hear throughout the year.

Additional motivation could be playing for Fickell if they like him and want him to stay on as coach.
