Breaking down Terrelle Pryor's chances at the next

At best right now he's a Brad Smith (Jets), a guy that can add to creative plays. At worst he's a Pat White (bust).

Agreed. I think his athleticism is off the charts though. To have a spot in the NFL you have to do something--just one thing--exceptionally well. What does Pryor do exceptionally well? I don't think he's good enough to be a wide out and just out-jump a DB on a go/flag/post route. I do like the idea of putting him in the slot on a goal line situation and having him run a flag if it's man coverage against a linebacker. I do think he can create mismatches. I'm also tempted to say that he'd be a challenge to bring down on the first hit--but then again it is a league of professionals and not Big Ten amateurs. I think he is shifty and big enough to get extra yards though.

Tedd Ginn's experience as a wide out should show just how difficult being a WR is in the NFL. It's a long shot that Pryor would be able to create separation against a good NFL corner.

TE? Fuck no--at least not a conventional TE, maybe a strictly receiving end. This guy doesn't have the intestinal fortitude to get into an NFL DE's chest and block (for very long haha). You won't see him with his hand on the ground at the LOS. QB? Double fuck no; for obvious reasons. If you can't see he's inconsistent at best (and woefully inaccurate at worst) then you should never watch football again

I think if he's going to have a career in the NFL it'll be as a big body WR/TE in the red zone. He's got the frame and athleticism like Antonio Gates. It's his best shot.

Who cares. Give me shit, but I wouldn't be too upset seeing him fall flat on his face. It may do him some good as a person to learn to deal with failure. He has had everything handed to him. He has no clue what it takes to earn something in life.

What if he says screw the NFL, and decides to try the NBA route. He was a freakish basketball player in high school and was highly recruited for his BBall skills but chose football. I don't think he has any chance at the next level in football, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him drop a bomb and say he's going to try his talents in the NBA. Afterall, it fits the "black, tall, and athletic" characteristic a little better, don't ya' think?

anybody think he'll transfer to a FCS (D1-AA) school, where he'll be able to play right away? how ironic would that be if he enrolled at YSU...

He wouldn't be able to play right away, if he goes to any NCAA school he still has to face sanctions. He would have to go to an NAIA school

    gotcha'--thanks

Pryor doesn't have the lateral agility need to play WR in the NFL. He doesn't have the arm or the head to play QB in the NFL. His option are to learn how to block and play TE or be a kickoff return/special teams guy. Some team may give him a year or two to try and teach him some mechanics throwing the ball and see what happens, but he will never start an NFL game at QB.

Basketball? No way. It takes skill and not just athleticism, for the most part.

As a QB? I said no way all year and people were all over me. Does he get a shot? I think he does but he won't be given a ton of chances to succeed. He will either adapt or get cut.

    Another position? Unlikely.

You think he is shifty?

I guess I can agree with dynasty for once. He will have his chance to play QB in the NFL. He sure as hell wont be a TE or WR lol

TP might be a bett QB them Cam anyways.....at least he ha taken snaps under center. TP got way better at QB at OSU then Cam did at Auburn.

I agree with this as well. Cam was the #1 pick and people are saying that there is no chance TP is a QB in the NFL??? I personally think Cam will be a bust. He couldn't complete a pass against air when working out at the combine. I think TP is a better QB than Cam because of the system he was in.

TP's footwork improved a lot over the last three years and he played in a pro-style system so he's at least used to making whole field reads on a 5 step drop. However, his throwing mechanics are very awkward; and not in a Phillip Rivers kind of way where he throws side-arm; Pryor kind of shot puts the ball. Add in his apparent lack of QB intelligence. I don't think his odds of succeeding as a prostyle QB are very good. Additionally, for all of his size and speed, he was never really that physical or natural of a runner so I don't see him being much of a running threat in "wildcat-type" plays either.

Currently, he's pretty despised. But prior to all this, his was widely beloved by his teammates. Main ones that had issues were Boeckmen's friends(Hartline mainly.)

He may have been very early on, but I'd have to believe as time went on and he began to have success and fame nationally, that too began to fade.

Bolded part is not true. He was only given half field reads and then would look to run. He also still couldn't hit a 10 yard out.

I don't know where you get your info from, but by all accounts Pryor was a helluva basketball player in high school. Received an offer from Pitt, I believe, his sophomore year in high school and commited right then and there. I know he was a Top 50 prospect according to ESPN, and a Top 10 prospect at Small Forward. The kid can certainly ball it up.

Wow! Top 50 prospect 4 years ago?

How did you infer any of that from what I said? He will probably be ahead of them as far as his footwork goes but they are more talented than him in other areas of the game and they are both more physical runners.

I'm sorry Karen but this is not true. In the pro style passing game if you run 5 and 7 step drops from under center your team is going to contain full field pass concepts which Ohio State unequivocally does. The talking heads say this a lot but they are wrong. Just take my word for it.

Yeah? Point being? Taking a break from basketball and football are two totally different things. I think he has a better shot at making an NBA bench than he does as a 3rd string QB in the NFL. The kid is a gifted athlete, there's no denying that, so why couldn't he play basketball again? It's not like it'd be his first time playing.

In other news, James also said that Pryor will no longer cooperate with NCAA investigators looking into Ohio State's football program, ex-players and current players.

"He doesn't need a reason (to talk to them). He's no longer a student-athlete," said James, who added that Pryor doesn't feel he owes the NCAA any answers. "They're not going to give him or any other student-athlete any due process rights to speak of, so he's moved on."

James said he is "100 percent certain" that at least eight of the nine current additional players mentioned in a Sports Illustrated report alleged to have sold autographs or memorabilia to a tattoo shop owner will be cleared. There is some uncertainty about the ninth.
