Archie Griffin?

  • vball10set
I may have missed it, but where has Archie been during the last couple of weeks? He's been conspicuous by his absence, and I surely would like to hear his take on all of this.....Archie, are you out there??

Archie is nothing more than a figurehead. When he memorizes the lines he has been given you will hear a statement. Don't expect a question and answer session. Great guy and great career, but he doesn't make any decisions.

    This.

I talked to him a few weeks ago in the Union, he's alive.

I realize he's not a decision maker or anyone of influence, it just seems odd that one of the most recognizable Buckeyes has been virtually "invisible" during this whole mess---and I have to assume it's by design. I would just like to hear something from him, scripted or otherwise.

    E. Gordon Geek and Gene Smith will be gone during summer. Archie will be your next AD and look for the DeSales connection to be loyal. Luke Fickle will remain the coach for many years to come.

I like the way you think--hope you're right

Archie is running the Alumni Association. What the hell do you think he's doing?

Who asked what he was doing? I was just asking where he's been in reference to commenting on the Tressel situation, that's all.

Agree with your last sentence, but only if the "Bad Five" are gone before the season starts. You can't tell your best 2012 QBs, RBs, WRs etc., that "Yeah, work your ass of during the Summer and Fall (5 games), then sit down and wait for next year. Luke will make the correct decision.

Mike Adams and Devier Posey are the only one whos will get a starting position back. Pryor is gone. Herron is meh and I think the other guys will outplay him, WR is weak so Posey HAS to get back into the lineup.

You do realize that he doesn't work in the Athletic Administration at Ohio State, don't you?

He is the President of the Ohio State Alumni Association.

What 'decisions' would you have him make regarding athletics??

None, read the post no where did I say I expected him to make any decisions.

It may be different at idiot gym teachers college, but at real universities, the head of the Aumni (sic) Association isn't tasked with policing athletic boosters.

ccrunner, that IS the most ignorant post in the history of this site. You are aware that Ohio State has 525,000 alumni in every state and most countries of the world. And you want Archie to keep track of all of their activities??? LOLOLOLOLOL

What IF Pryor is not gone? Do you want to bet your life on him being gone at this point in time?

Herron has played in this offense for 3 years. He will be given enough reps in practice to keep the rust off. If he's one of the best 2 tailbacks on the team after 5 games, he will play.

I'm willing to bet that 95% of the players on the team want the best 22 players on the field against Nebraska. And the players on the team know better than anyone who the best 22 are and will not be happy if their chances for finishing 1st in their Division are compromised. If they keep their noses clean, go to class and work hard in practice, regardless of what they're asked to do, they've served their time. Fickle will lose respect of the players if one of the Five don't play and the players know they should and deserve to play. If Fickle wants this job more than one year, if ANY Head Coach wants to keep his job, he must play the 22 best players, if their noses are clean.

By the way. Solomon Thomas is suspended for 5 games. Jordan Whiting is the only one who got a 1 game suspension.

    You are an ignoramus.

Thanks for the correction, got the wrong one missing only one game, I'll make the change.

    You are a hater.

Archie didn't get to where he is today by being a dummy. It doesn't serve him or his position to be making statements about this situation. Archie's job is to keep the alumni sending in those checks. By taking a neutral position he isn't jeopardizing the fundraising part of his job.
