Alright, now that Ohio State football is 100% clean

With the resigning of Jim Tressel, and the cleaning of the program, what will haters hate on now?

I'd attach a poll, but seems to me no matter what, we're going to have hoards of people jealous that they can't have the success of the Buckeyes, both on and off the field.

haters gonna hate. OSU will still be a top 5 football program

Don't kid yourself. JT resigning isn't going to end this.

Depending on what SI has in its story that posts tonight, there could be more fallout.

Even if the story is just a rehash of stuff already known, the media will now begin the "they haven't suffered enough" shtick and start calling for the heads of Smith, Gee and the compliance people. Hell, it's already started with some columnists from what I understand.

They aren't content to get rid of JT. They want to try and bring the program DOWN.

Frankly, some of them are acting like children who just ate a gallon of ice cream and are throwing hissy fits because they want more.

Were not 100% clean as long as there's still TP and the gang.

Program is not clean yet. Those 5 idiots who started the whole thing need kicked off the team.
Until then, the cloud hangs over the program.

who recruited those 5 idiots? and do you really think this tattoo business started with them? if they investigated this guy 5 years ago the names troy smith and antonio pittman might have came up.

I'm betting those five players have seen the field for the last time. When all this settles, I won't be surprised to see more penalties, either from the NCAA or from the coaching staff.

I get the sarcasm, Sleeper... :)

Personally, I think TCU is going to make for some interesting reading in the future - they just got too good too fast in a situation that isn't conductive to building a football powerhouse.

Agree with the others - but I think it's Gene Smith that's in ---serious-- trouble. Even if Tressel kept him and the entire compliance area completely in the dark, his leadership role within the NCAA has been blown apart.

I don't so much blame the Tat 5 personally - they just had the misfortune to sell -their- stuff to a guy under a federal investigation. How many others have done so to collector and dealer who had the business acumen to stay out of illegal operations?

Clean, dirty, best, worst, they still have a fanbase that is completely retarded. Like SEC retarded.

Interesting column by Ryan McGee on ESPN...

The sad truth is that we fans will have to live with this long after the penalties are served. I took some shit from Illinois alums today at the store. My reply was that we may be dirty, we may be sanctioned, but we will still go to Champaign this fall and beat you. It's about all I've got left.

That's about all you should need considering football is played on the field.

In all seriousness, I get the inkling that the punishment handed down by the NCAA will be more akin to a slap on the wrist if anything. Then the haters will hop on that for a while; really anything to avoid the reality that their team is nowhere near the caliber and integrity of The Ohio State University.

It's plenty. Clean losers are still losers.

    As to the article:

"Jim Tressel is gone. However, the damage he leaves behind won't be cleaned up for a very long time. Maybe never."

What a load of overly dramatic bullshit. There will be 105,000+ in the stands for every home game, and the away games will be most opponents' largest crowds. This year, next year, every year.

    Lol at inkling.

I am curious to see what punishment comes from all of this. From what I know OSU has done a lot of the investigating and been very up front about everything. (Had they simply deleted the email from Tressel this could have all gone away.) If the NCAA really puts the smack down on OSU why would any other school self report? But the NCAA is already feeling the sting of the idiotic decision to let those idiots play in the bowl game, so they can't go too easy on OSU either.

Probably why OSU won the national championship this year...

    oh wait.

The way I look at it, we're the whipping boy right now, and justifiably so...USC was a couple years back, we are now, and somebody else will be a year or two from now (Auburn?). We Buckeye fans dished it out, and now we're taking it--not liking it, but taking it. When's all said and done, we'll still be at or near the top of the Big Ten, we'll be in the top 25, and we'll kick tsun's ass-- yet again.

Ohio State ISN'T "100% clean" until they get rid of all of Tressel's assistants and clean house. It's not uncommon knowledge that the assistants are often closer to the players and know more of the "going's on" than the head coach does. This includes Fickell, etc... To assume that these assistants didn't know what was going on all along would probably be foolish.

Oh, I know. Was just saying that I believe they haven't gotten rid of all of that "dirt laundry" yet.
