Ohio State AD backs Jim Tressel

It's sad that people think Tressel's choices are a result of the players' actions. If Tressel would have reported this to his people when he first found out about it or maybe when he signed off on the NCAA papers, there would be no heat on the head coach. -

If there wasn't nothing to report he would have never been put in the situation. And it's an embarrassment for the NCAA (the most crooked organization in sports) that this could be an offense that losses a man his job. He was put in a unique situation, didn't handle it the correct way, but the bottom line is, he didn't create the situation. -

Thank You.
I love Tress at OSU, but HE is the one who REALLY fucked this up. -
thedynasty1998It's really weak to blame anyone other than Tressel.

LOL...if the media told you to drink the kool-aid you would. -
bigkahunaYou're a fucking idiot.
The tattoo thing and Tressel are 2 completely different things.
How hard is it to tell the truth? "Yea, I know of some violations, some of my players received improper benefits." He seriously had 3 formal chances to do this. Once back in April of last year, again in September when he lied to the NCAA initially, and again in December when we all found out about it.
A unique situation would be if a player received a large donation from an organization for his mother's heart surgery. Trading tattoos for memorabilia is pretty cut and dry.
The fact of the matter is that Tressel lied to the NCAA and his boss. Wouldn't you be fired if you tried to cover up code violations from your boss and the governing body of your work force? It doesn't matter if someone in the office broke the rules, if you're supposed to report said violations (as is your job description), then it's on your head if the proper paper work isn't filed. -
Tobias FünkeThe Boss do yourself a favor and be quiet. You clearly don't have a clue what is going on.

Me?! You're the one that is blind to the complete and utter bullshit the NCAA does to teams to make it look like they're legit and make a statement every so often. SMU anyone? It's obviously not nearly that severe but "illegal" bullshit happens at every major school and most of it goes without more than a slap on the wrist because of $$$$$$$$$$. -
bigkahunaOr maybe because shit isn't brought up.
How about Michigan's practice violations? Do you really think that Michigan is the only school that ran long on practice? The reason it came out is because someone opened their mouth and someone else ran with it. -
ksig489Had Tressell reported this as soon as he knew about it, the players would have been suspended for a few games and the whole thing would be done with by now. By not reporting it and then lying about it...he has created the situation where the NCAA is checking into EVERYTHING because they have no idea if OSU is telling them the truth at this point.

Best coach in the country, there's no doubt about it. The haters can keep hating, Tressel is staying, so get use to watching the Buckeyes atop the poll for the foreseeable future.
No.1 He has only won one National Title(With Coopers kids)
No.2 When was the last time he was National COY?
No.3 Best Coach in the country? Very very very Debateable. I would put Saban over him by a lot,and Carroll and Urban Meyer were both way above him too -

So you're including NFL coaches in this discussion? Not to mention dudes who don't have jobs...Ty Webb;773728 wrote:No.1 He has only won one National Title(With Coopers kids)

Ty WebbSq....notice how I said WERE in regards to Meyer and Carroll
I would even put Mack Brown and Chris Peterson above him....and maybe even Gary Patterson -
The BossWhat the fuck does WERE have to do with anything? Oh yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, you're gibby...you're as smart as the rock stuck in the bottom of my boot. Maybe not even that rock, at least that one was smart enough to attack itself to me.
-
bigkahunaI'll agree with Gibby as far as Nick Saban goes. I would also consider Mack Brown and Bob Stoops to be up there as well.

LOL? Yeah I think Woody Hayes was the best coach in the country. I'd put him way above Saban, Carroll, and Urban. -
Ty WebbYou can't really be that stupid can you sleeper?

It's sad that had Tressel just been forthwright from the get-go, there'd be no heat on the coach.

I don't know about any of these coaches being better than Tressel. The only one that possibly could be better than Tressel is Mack Brown, but after this past season, I'm not sure I'd put him above Tressel. -

Was this posted to somehow imply that OSU AD Gene Smith has abandoned Tressel? Hardly. Every entity in a legal proceeding usually has it's own attorney looking out for their specific interest, even if they are "on the same side". That OSU is not paying Trssel's legal bills is not unusual... it probably would be more unusual if it were the other way around. In fact, Tressel would be smart to insist upon it....that is, have his own atty that is not being paid by OSU. I would hope I would not have to explain why this is the case, but I do realize that we are dealing with some mental midgets here. whatWebFire;772937 wrote:Suck on this, blind man.

A player's coach is supposed to take the heat for his players. -

Even when they're breaking the rules? Maybe when the players are having a bad game, but when they break the rules the coach is supposed to teach them a lesson. Nice cop-out though.
