Will Kansas go undefeated in the regular season?

  • slingshot4ever
This team looks unstoppable to me right now and I am very excited to watch this team play over the course of the year before Collins and Aldrich head to the pros with the freshman phenom Xavier Henry.

Obviously they have to go to Texas. Michigan and UCLA are a couple of possibilities in the non-conference. What does everyone think?

No. But with the depth in talent Kansas owns, and a superstar point guard and leader in Collins running the show, the Jayhawks won't lose many. I don't seem 'em dropping more than two or three games all season. I see a loss to Texas in Austin and possibly a loss at Tennessee, and there is always a conference surprise somewhere. With my team, Duke, in the past, that surprise has been walking into an ambush versus an unranked Florida State club in Tallahassee or a loss at Miami on a terrible night from the field.

This is a very good KU team with the potential -- and likelihood -- of being outstanding and cutting down the nets in Indianapolis. I look forward to seeing them destroy UCLA tonight.

UCLA isn't a possibility. UCLA is awful. Big name, BAD team. KU rolls by at least 25.
  • Laley23
No. It is way to difficult. There is a reason a team hasnt done it since Indiana '76
  • chicago510
Texas will knock them off once. Plus another Big12 upset.

    Too much parity these days
  • SportsAndLady
No...but I sure as hell hope so
  • Mulva
They almost dropped one already to Memphis. I think they'll lose 3-4 before the season ends.
  • hoops23
No way another college team goes undefeated. With the media and parity in today's game, it's impossible.

KU is very good, but they will lose a couple of conference games.

Besides, nobody can top the immortal Scott May :)

I'm gonna vote "no" also. Kansas is probably the best team in the nation and I think they'll be the favorite to win it all in March/April, but I don't see them going undefeated. It's just too difficult. No matter how talented you are, there are nights when you just don't have it. That will probably happen at least once to the Jayhawks, and they may just get outplayed by a team like Texas on the road.

nope too hard, they will have a off night
  • ZombieKiller
I agree with 2quik. They will lose a conference game.

It is possible but unlikely. If a team was going undefeated I think it was UNC last year but even they slipped up 4 times before regrouping to win the national title. Kansas has two very difficult road games @ Tennessee and @ Texas and I fully expect them to drop one of those games. KU won't lose in Allen this year but to answer your question/comment rec I agree with you KU will drop an unexpected game. There are two places Coach Self and KU seem to struggle to win in inside the Big XII conference and that is Lubbock and Stillwater. KU has Texas Tech at home this year so the Jayhawks will win that one but must go on the road against OSU in Stillwater and I fully expect KU to struggle to win there.

I would love to see 40-0 but expect more of a 37-3 like in 2008 and if the Jayhawks can produce another season like 2008 that will satisfy the Jayhawk nation!

KU stands 7-0 so only 33 more wins in a row with a national title and the answer to this poll is yes!

    ROCK CHALK KANSAS JAYHAWKS!!!!!

    You homer!
  • slingshot4ever
Hey Phog Allen, are you Hank?
  • reclegend22
Yes, hank is Phog (or is it, Phog is hank?) Either way, hank and Phog are the same person.

And, yes, he's a homer! But no more than I tend to be at times (I had Duke as my national champion in a $100 per bracket pool worth thousands in 2006-07), so it's no problem with me.

Besides, KU is stacked. I'd be hoping for an unblemished record as well.

Your thread title to poll question were completely different. I voted no, thinking I was answering "will Kansas go undefeated?"

Kansas will lose a regular season game.

First post on this site. Glad a lot of the 'old timers' are here.

To answer the question, no. I don't think we'll see anyone go undefeated for a long time, especially not a major conference team. Memphis was pretty close a few years ago. I do think they're the best team in the country but I'd be willing to bet a ton of $$$ they don't go unblemished.
  • reclegend22
    cviewballa, I presume.

Where've ya been? We don't seem to agree a lot, but glad to see another 'old timer' here. I can't believe how quickly all of us have made it over here and pretty much shut down the Huddle. It's hilarious, really.
  • cview
Indeed, it's me. I still respect your opinions despite not agreeing with some of them.

As for where I've been...actually, I hadn't even heard of this site until I was looking at some of the info on the Walter Offutt transfer and I stumbled across it. Glad to see everyone was able to migrate to the same place. I love the site name too :D

Good to see you over here, cview.

I don't think KU will go undefeated. They have great talent, but the season is long. Eligibility and injuries can play a role as can having some very tough road games. It's tough to bring your 'A' game night-in and night-out, and I don't think they have SO mcuh more talent than everyone else that they can just show up and win. At some point, they'll stumble.

And besides, I think Collins will find a way to do something stupid and cost them a game. He has incredible talent and works hard, but I still think he makes too many impulsive decisions and tries to win every game by himself. I know Hank disagrees, but I'm not a Collins fan at all.

I voted No, should have been a Yes vote. Your thread topic says "Will Kansas go undefeated in the regular season?" ANSWER : No
Poll says "Will KU lose?" ANSWER : Yes.

    Ultimate thread fail.
