The Fix is In

Good article out of a Pittsburgh publication. There are several quotes from Henry Hill (the real mobster from the movie Goodfellas) and disgraced NBA ref, Tim Donaghy in regards to Point Shaving.

How prevalent is point shaving in college ball in your opinion?

When you get outside the big conferences/teams...I think it is a lot more prevalent than we realize. I think it is too tough and would be too hard to cover up from a media perspective and with all the cameras and media always around the bigger programs to pull off, so I doubt the bookies/mobsters even approach it.

But at smaller places, where they feel its easier and safer, I have a feeling we would be disgusted if we knew the truth.

The Toledo scandal a few years back would seem to be proof of your hypothesis.
