Gus Johnson won't do NCAA tourney next year
-
karen lotzas he and CBS have parted ways. WTF.
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/writers/richard_deitsch/05/05/gusjohnson.cbs/index.html -
MulvaI will be watching all games with the Gus Johnson soundboard.
But couldn't he still do TNT/TBS/Tru without a CBS contract? -
krambmanApparently he may be working on a deal with Fox. Since Fox owns half of the Big Ten Network and half of the new Pac-12 deal, maybe this will get him calling some Big Ten football games and more Big Ten basketball games on the BTN.
-
Azubuike24CBS never showed him the love he deserved. He deserves to pick his events and be the lead guy. Nobody will unseat Jim Nantz at CBS until he ages and starts to lose it (which could be 20 years) so it makes sense. Anywhere else, Gus Johnson is THE man.
-
SportsAndLadyYeah either ESPN or FOX...probably wasn't that difficult of a decision to say "Okay, goodbye CBS", not when you're the best in the business.
-
ts1227That means no NFL either, unless FOX picks him up...

IliketurtlesMarch Madness will not be the same without him. I will miss him and I don't watch a lot of Pac-12 or Big Ten games but I just might start now.
ts I would love for him to do NFL games on Fox that means he would probably do a few Cowboys games. -
SportsAndLadyMaybe he'll do SNF?
-
Azubuike24That would be cool, but I'm guessing he gets a lot of money and is tied exclusively with someone. NBC on SNF and FOX everywhere else...especially since FOX does NFL on Sunday. I doubt he'd be employed with them but broadcast the NFL for a rival network on the same day.

SportsAndLadyPete Abraham
The President should show a video of the bomb hitting bin Laden's house and let Gus Johnson narrate the highlight
Lol, twitter is hilarious right now on this -
sportswizuhrdI figured he would be going to the NFL network, but thats out of the question. The NFLN hired Brad Nessler from ESPN for their games.

No way, unless Joe Buck dies. -
sleeperGoat.
-
ytownfootballIf Gus doesn't land a damn hi-profile gig banking good scratch he better find new agent.

sportswizuhrdHold on...Daily News out of NYC says...
Reports of Gus Johnson's departure from CBS Sports are premature.
So for Johnson fans, March Madness might not turn into March Sadness after all.
According to an industry source Johnson, whose CBS contract expired after the Final Four, received a written offer from Fox earlier this week. The offer includes both NFL and Pac-12 football play-by-play roles.
However Johnson's reps have not presented the offer to CBS execs. When they do, probably next week, CBS will have one week to match or say adios to Johnson.

Now this is what I want to see. -
krambmanCBS would have to be stupid not to sign him. Football is my passion and I can watch college football all day regardless of who's playing. Until March though, I usually only watch OSU basketball, unless Gus is calling a game. If I flip to CBS on a Saturday and he's calling a game and stop and watch.

And that is precisely why he is the most valuable commentator in all of sports for the coveted 18-35 market. We won't stop to listen to Jim Nantz, we stop to listen to Gus Johnson. If I'm CBS I'm paying him top dollar to stay. He's that valuable. -
ou1980Front page of Yahoo reporting hes out at CBS

When March Madness came down between CBS and ESPN, I was pulling for CBS hard because I got tired of ESPN wanting everything and bullying other networks. But now, I hope ESPN picks up Gus and their ratings kicks CBS's @$$! -
mallymal614It ain't over yet!

College basketball coverage on CBS might sound different Gus Johnson is currently a free agent, fielding offers from other networks. Johnson who was rumored to be gone yesterday, but apparently, CBS has a chance to match an offer FOX made to Johnson.
However Johnson’s reps have not presented the offer to CBS execs. When they do, probably next week, CBS will have one week to match or say adios to Johnson.
So Johnson’s future at CBS, where he’s spent 16 years calling NCAA hoops and also doing NFL play-by-play is still up in the air. -
mallymal614I would love to see a prime time special of Gus Johnson "The Decision".
Interviewer: So who will you be calling games for next season?
Gus: After giving it some thoughts, I decided to take my talents to................
