    Eligible Teams Left Out
    BYU
    Virginia Tech

It could still be Iowa instead of Penn State, but everything else should be pretty much set.
  • 2kool4skool
That's correct. Everything is set except who the Fiesta picks between Iowa/Penn State.

I'm not sure if the Big Ten will get two teams in..
  • jpake1
Who else would go in then?
  • 2quik4u
I want to see a TCU vs Florida or TCU vs Cincy

Ok, so which team gets in over PSU or Iowa? BYU or Virginia Tech? Those are the only options since no one else is eligible.
  • Trueblue23
Good call guys, forgot about the requirements of rank in the BCS to be eligible. My bad.

Krambman did a pretty good analysis on another thread.
krambman wrote: I agree that the Big Ten probably doesn't deserve two team in the BCS this year, but I'm not sure what other conference does.

The rule is that no conference can send more than two teams to BCS bowls. There are 4 at-large spots. Remembering this, let's break down the possibilities.

TCU and Boise State deserve and will get two of the at-large slots.

The SEC clearly deserves two bids.

If Texas wins (which is in doubt at the moment) there is no other team in the Big XII who comes close to being deserving of an at-large bid.

The ACC is just bad and no team outside of the conference champ comes close to deserving a slot.

After Oregon in the Pac Ten there are a lot of really good teams, but no other great teams. Besides Oregon, no one has more than 8 wins.

Had Pitt won today and gotten the auto-bid in the Big East, Cinci would have been 11-1 and I think they would have gotten the last at-large slot. But at 9-3 Pitt does not deserve an at large bid.

That leaves the Big Ten with Penn State and Iowa, both of whom have 10 wins. Outside of the Big Ten, the SEC is the only BCS conference with more than one 10-win team.

So now tell me, who deserves an at-large bid more, Iowa or Penn State, or 9-3 Virginia Tech, 9-3 Oklahoma State, 9-3 Pitt, 10-3 Houston, 10-2 BYU?

When you really think about who else is being considered for that last at-large spot, Iowa and Penn State really have the best resumes.
  • Trueblue23
    Very good points
  • Cleveland Buck
Everything he said was correct except the bit about Cincinnati. There was a 0% chance of the being picked for a BCS bowl without winning the Big East autobid. If they would have lost they would have played in the Meineke Car Care Bowl.

This is exactly what was just put out by ESPN's Brad Edwards. I would personally be surprised to see the Fiesta take TCU over Iowa/Penn State, but I'd imagine Edwards has a better feel for what the bowl committees are thinking than I do.

YUP...and here's another ESPN writer's take on the BCS set-up: Don't Expect a BCS Sunday Surprise
Cincinnati is expected to play Florida in the Allstate Sugar Bowl. Oregon will administer the now-annual Rose Bowl beatdown to the Big Ten, this time to Ohio State. And, oh, the FedEx Orange Bowl is going to have a game too -- not that anybody outside the campuses of Georgia Tech and, either Iowa or Boise State are going to care.
Unfortunately I think he's right on.

I agree with this scenario. Only difference is Orange might take Penn St.

This makes it almost perfect for the BCS. Put the two non-AQ's against each other that way the "they have not played anyone" continues.

GT vs Iowa/Penn St simply does not matter for any NC implications.

Put UC against Florida and hope like hell Florida takes care of the undefeated UC team.

There ya go all fixed for the fans.
  • Cleveland Buck
Apparently there is talk that the Fiesta will take TCU and Boise State. I don't know why, but if they do I think there is little chance Iowa gets picked over Penn State for the Orange Bowl.

I will bet anything that PSU will not be in the BCS.

    Should be

    NC- Alabama vs TCU
    Sugar- Florida vs Cincy
    Fiesta- Texas vs Boise St.
    Rose- OSU vs Oregon
    Orange- Georgia Tech vs Iowa
  • King Curtis
UC is going to get fucked up
  • Cleveland Buck
    ^ Yes they are.

    My prediction:

BCS National Championship: Alabama -vs- Texas
    Rose Bowl: OSU -vs- Oregon
Fiesta Bowl: TCU -vs- Boise State
    Sugar Bowl- Florida -vs- UC
Orange Bowl- Georgia Tech vs Iowa
  • Red_Skin_Pride
I hope to hell the Fiesta doesn't take both TCU and Boise State. About two hours and we'll know for sure.
  • King Curtis
UC and Florida would be a hell of a game.
  • Ironman92
I hope Boise St and TCU don't face each other......ESPN predicts they will and they have the insiders

I wanna see TCU play Flordia
I wanna see Cincy play G Tech (hell of a game IMO)
Boise St could play Iowa for the other.

I think Iowa/Flordia would be horrible game in all facets.
  • Cleveland Buck
There is no chance Iowa will play Florida. The Sugar Bowl picks last and a Big Ten team will not last that long.
