Desmar Jackson leaving Wyoming
-
gyea36The Warren Harding standout is transferring out of Wyoming following a coaching change. Any word on where he may end up? Hopefully he can be in a more positive/successful program.

mvredWould love to see him return home to Youngstown. YSU has his former teammate Damian Eargle who also transferred back to YSU. In addition, one of YSU's PG recruits is Akron SVSM's Ricky Johnson Jr. who played on King James AAU team like Jackson.

Southern Illinois was in the discussion, but other options are there to. I don't know what you mean by successful program? Wyoming was not a top flight team, but they were in a very good major conference, with good talent. Dez was doing well, and was one of the top players in the Mountain West. -

One that doesn't perennially finish near the bottom of their conference? -
mvredHe would be an immediate starter at Youngstown State that is for sure and would play with Eargle. Slocum better snag him before CSU gets him!

And if Southern Illinois is in the discussion, their program is a disaster right now and the Missouri Valley is not as good as the Mountain West. If he decided to come back to Ohio...well, outside of Ohio State, Cincinnati and maybe Xavier, the quality of basketball here wouldn't be a step up from the Mountain West either...we'll see. He's a solid player. -
gyea36I just meant that i'd like to see him on a team that is in a respectable conference like the mtn west, but a team that is winning. It'd be cool to see him around other players of his caliber. It would also be cool to see him back east in order to see him on tv more, or be able to go live. He had two very good years at Wyoming, should be attractive for most programs.

mvredSounds like he may end up at SIU. His old coach at Wyoming is supposedly a new asst. at SIU.

Would be a good fit. -

He is going to Southern Illinois. The thing is Wyoming games were on TV all the time on the Mountain West network. Playing for Southern Illinois, you won't see him too much at all.gyea36;737099 wrote:I just meant that i'd like to see him on a team that is in a respectable conference like the mtn west, but a team that is winning. Azubuike24Missouri Valley actually has a deal with ESPN and CBS College Sports, and also they have a Missouri Valley TV Network. He will be as visible or more visible there.

Every Mountain West game was on the Mountain West channel or CBS College sports. I am not aware of the Missouri Valley Network, do you know what channel that would be if you had the Directv sports pack? I never really followed the Missouri Valley much, but I will now.Azubuike24;737373 wrote:Missouri Valley actually has a deal with ESPN and CBS College Sports, and also they have a Missouri Valley TV Network. gyea36Well I just hope it works out, I'd really like to see him keep playing well and winning games...and of course I selfishly would like to see it on tv. On a positive note, I've heard that SIU has a really nice campus. Maybe college life will be more positive for him there than in Wyoming.
