2013/2014 Big Ten Schedules Announced

Technically we've always had two byes, they've just always come at the end of the season during the last week in November and the first week in December. Now that the Big Ten had extended the schedule a week and with the NCAA moving up the start date of college football to allow for 15 weeks instead of 14, most everyone will have two byes.

While the SEC is the best conference, it's not like these schools are playing top 10 teams every week. They still have their bottom feeders just like everyone else.

I cant speak for other SEC schools, but LSU plays WVU and Oregon along with the toughest conference games in 2011. I would like to see any schedule that compares to LSU for next season. They aint scared. And good for OSU going out and playing one tough OOC game each year. Big deal when you play MAC schools and Big 10 schools for the rest of your schedule.

But you sure can CONSTANTLY piss and moan about OSU. lol......you act like its the norm for major programs to schedule more than one big OOC game.

    "They aint scared." lmao

My post was actually defending OSU's scheduling, not attacking it.

The bottom line with schedule, in today's BCS era, is you cater the schedule around A) revenue and B) maximizing chances to make more revenue. If SEC powers can use their conference standing and reputation to get away with 4 powderpuff OOC opponents and still make a BCS game or play for a national title, why not do it?

As fans, it's easy to constantly want to see teams go out and play a gauntlet of a schedule. We get better football and greater entertainment. But think of it from any school's perspective. They are going to study the ramifications and schedule around what's best for the program, not what would be most entertaining for all of us football fans.

Bottom line...I think arguing schedules is one of the most pointless arguments people can have. Those who "attack" other teams' schedules really have no merit other than disliking that school.

I know I am in my 30s now, so excuse the memory loss, but didn't OSU sign on to play Tennessee and Oklahoma in the near future?

I will pardon your memory loss, but I won't pardon your refusal to read the few mentions of both of those series in this tread.
