Rumor: Urban in 2012
-
Steel Valley FootballLots of people will scoff at yet an another Urban post/rumor, but my source is almost to the top here. All I can say is the son of a person VERY high up in the athletic department told me they are working out a deal that brings Meyer in starting in 2012. I asked him how sure he was that it would happen and he said 90%.
I can't name the source now, but I will after it happens or doesn't happen. There's not much else I can post about it because that was the conversation.....so I guess just post whatever you want and I won't argue w/you LOL. -
WebFireI have a source really high, that says they are working on a deal to bring in Rich Rodriguez starting in 2012. I cannot name the source right now, because he will get busted for possession.
-
gerb131I heard Urban is in talks with Mo C to be the rb's coach.
-
Tigerfan00Will he be bringing Tim Tivo with him also?
-
sleeperYou could have at least made a bleacher report account first, and then this would be a credible news story, eligible to remain outside of the basement.
-
Steel Valley FootballFair enough - I expected this because of all the jackasses who have been getting their kicks from slamming Tressel and all of us OSU fans every chance they could.
Just know I grew up in Warren and I've been backing Tressel since the YSU days...and the very last thing I want is Meyer here and Tressel gone. But, this is what I heard and the source is solid. My buddy's dad is about as high up in the department as one can be.
Sorry if I pissed everyone off by posting it, but I didn't want to just sit on it. -
thedynasty1998So it's a higher up at OSU? If OSU was in contact with Urban Meyer and more than say 10 people knew, it would get leaked somewhere more reputable than a poster on here. No offense to you, but I just don't buy the "source" here because it is so high profile that it would be difficult to keep secret.
-
mellaI do know that Gene Smith's wife Sheila has been talking about returning to Arizona and I would not be surprised if it was in 2 or 3 years. So I could see some major changes coming in a year or 2. New head football coach and new AD.

That's fine and I'm not offended. And I know how I've come across other threads debating and what not so I expect to be taken lightly and I'm trying to be right or anything, esp right now with all the rumors. Like I said, just puttin it out there. This kid has been right tho a lot for me before. Enough to definitely say hmm I'll remember he said that, ya know.thedynasty1998;731406 wrote:So it's a higher up at OSU? IMO, unless you are in the sports journalism field, sources don't need to be protected.Steel Valley Football;731512 wrote:That's fine and I'm not offended. Swamp FoxI really don't think Meyer will come to OSU unless his health is a whole lot better than it has evidently been over the last few years. He is very unpredictable and it seems that the pressure of previous stints as head coach has taken a toll on him. Don't you think there would be tons of pressure on him in Columbus since his name has come up in practically every discussion about who will eventually replace Coach Tressel and many think that if Meyer comes all will be suddenly solved and we may not ever lose another game. I know that I wouldn't want to work under that scrutiny and if he should come and fail to produce what many expect...what then? What would all those who pushed Meyer's name to the front of the list do? Would they attempt to deny their unabashed support for him? Would the parade of other "names" start up again...Les Miles, Bob Stoops, Harbaugh? etc. etc. etc. The truth of the matter is that the Buckeyes have the best coach but now unfortunately, his name has been considerably soiled by this series of findings and he is probably going to have to leave sooner than later. Just wait. The new guy will prove to be just as human as everyone else but not nearly as successful as the current Buckeye coach has been during his amazing tenure in Columbus. I'm thinking the best solution if Coach Tressel retires is to put Coach Fickel in that spot and go with him. He is a Buckeye through and through and he will learn on the job.

I respect your opinion, so coming from you I give it an ounce of credibility. Most others on here making statements like this would be shrugged off. -
Little DannyI don't think SVF's post is a stretch here. Many have speculated Meyer will eventually coach here, many also were saying the same a month ago when everything broke out. Remember the "Urban Meyer buys a house in Upper Arlington" thread? I can absolutely envision a scenario where JT resigns after this season "for family reasons".
The biggest issue will be whether Meyer takes the job. He did have legitimate health issues and I do think the plethora of issues (mostly off the field crap) of coaching a major DI program wore on him. You don't resign from a job with so many built in advantages such as Florida if they were not there. All this being said, if Urban is the next Buckeye coach, I won't be shocked. -
vball10setSVF, I tend to agree with your source..I said on here on more the one occassion that I feel this will be JT's last season--and I stick by that 110%

I'm not saying I disagree with the notion this may be true, but if you can't cite the source, the story has no cred.Little Danny;731564 wrote:I don't think SVF's post is a stretch here. dwccrewIf true, will Meyer be able to handle the scrutiny that comes with being the Buckeye head coach?

Obviously, but I'm more concerned with KEEPING my source than anything else. -

did they tell you this under the premise of confidentiality? -

It's always understood with stuff he shares. Not that I don't share it with friends/family, but certainly that I don't post his name online somewhere.vball10set;731746 wrote:did they tell you this under the premise of confidentiality? -

LOL--I understand, I was just being sarcastic (confidentiality, ala Jim Tressel's email exchange alibi) -
Steel Valley FootballGotcha....sorry.

TiernanOne of the Stoops boys will coach at OSU before Pope Urban ever does and neither of them is leaving OK or AZ for at least another 3 yrs. Nice try SVF but wide of the mark by a mile.
-
wkfanWhenever Tressel leaves Ohio State...and under whatever circumstances.....I pray to the God and all that is holy that his replacement is not Urban Meyer.

You and me both WK. But I seriously don't think Teflon Tress is going anywhere anytime soon. As much as the ND & scUM posters are having perpetual chubbies over all this, he would have already been gone if it was going to happen. The NCAA will most likely spank him with some scholarship losses but I really doubt if he gets any additional game suspensions.
But all bets are off if the Fed investigation reveals drugs were traded for memoribilia and not tattoos...and that rumor is gaining speed on campus.
