Elite Eight: (8) Butler def. (2) Florida, 74-71 in OT
-
LeonardoFlorida is 29-7
Butler is 26-9
This game is in New Orleans, Louisiana and will be broadcast by CBS -
SpeedofsandButler has to be tough to still be in it. I was not impressed by the Wisc. game. I'm sure they will play better down the stretch on Sat., but Billy Donovan has good team vibes going on. I like Florida by 2.

GOONx19Butler has now been in 8 straight NCAA tournament games in which less than 5 points separated the two teams with under 2:00 to play.

And have won 7 of them. That = excellent coaching, when you consider the 1 they lost was to the national champions and a HOF coach.GOONx19;723769 wrote:Butler has now been in 8 straight NCAA tournament games in which less than 5 points separated the two teams with under 2:00 to play. -
2kool4skoolIf you're not rooting for Butler in this game, regardless of your bracket, you're an awful human being.
-
Ty WebbI'm not rooting for Butler
-
cats gone wildButler by 6. Cant root against the smaller schools when they make it this far.
-
bases_loadedButler beats teams that play undisciplined. Its why I thought Wisconsin would beat them(0-17 shooting will get ya beat ) what's the line on this one

Agree completely...they are basically the equivalent of past Princeton squads, except with marginally better offense. They don't beat themselves, and everything is designed around execution, making the whole product, the team, greater than any of it's individual parts. Is it the most exciting to watch? Hell no. But I think you have to appreciate what they do and how well they do it, against many good teams. And I agree about Wisconsin...if there is any team in America from a POWER conference that could out-Butler Butler, you would think it is Wisconsin. They're basically the same style team, but with perceived "better" players. Butler played outstanding defense, looking like the Butler D of last year's tournament. Was very impressed again last night. Florida might beat them, but they're not going to help out. They're going to make the Gators go out and beat them, and if Florida starts making mistakes, Butler will smell blood. I think this might be the best game of the elite 8, regardless of who wins tonight to set up the rest of the 8 teams.bases_loaded;723802 wrote:Butler beats teams that play undisciplined. MulvaFlorida is at -3.5

NonI took Florida financially.
Every team I like is getting picked off.
I'm going for Butler in this one so they'll probably lose, but then I'll win money. I like this plan. -
NonYep.
Butler not enough big guys for Florida.
Mismatch. -
NonMacklin has been sick in this game, so far
-
Nongood work by Butler hanging in this
-
SpeedofsandButler is smart and scrappy. Overtime wouldn't surprise me. 5 on 5 game today.
-
Non31-30 Florida
after all that -
Non37-37
16 minutes left -
NonI know Macklin isn't regularly a main offensive force but he looks like it in this game.
Showing some good moves and touch. -
NonTyus back-to-back slams
Florida up by 4 -
reclegend22In the words of Billy Packer, this game is ova.
Florida just looks too driven to relinquish this lead. Billy Donovan has his boys playing very confident basketball at the perfect time. Hell of a season for Butler, though. Once again, Brad Stevens awes the country with his basketball brilliance. -
NonIt looked like Florida was pulling away
but Butler back to 53-49 -
reclegend22"They've got an energizer bunny percolating."
Only Gus Johnson haha.
Hopkins looks like Darnell Archey lite. -
Nonrefs are helping Butler a little bit
letting them slap the ball when not in position and one that went out of bounds they just gave it to them because they were losing haha
I notice all that stuff -
NonHoward has had a rough day in some ways but considering all of the heavy lifting on both ends he's still helped keep them in it
-
Ty WebbGus Johnson isn't he trying to hide the fact he is rooting for Butler
