VCU vs Purdue
-
september63Purdue is digging themselves quite the hole here in the first half.
-
Azubuike24Gotta love it. VCU laying the wood on the most over-seeded team in the Tournament (Florida might have a claim to that crown as well).
-
Cleveland BuckMoore is having an off game at the wrong time, the same time Cinderella is playing over their heads. It happens.
-
gerb131Purdue be alright in the 2nd half. VCU isn't running them out of the gym with JaJuan Johnson on the floor.
-
SportsAndLadyHow is Purdue as a 4 seed overseeded?
-
ironman02VCU basically pounded USC and Georgetown, but I'm actually surprised by how well they're playing today. Purdue has definitely been regressing since they beat OSU, but I thought they'd still win this game. VCU has definitely used the "they don't deserve to be in" talk as motivation to annihilate everything in their path.
-
Cleveland BuckPurdue is a 3 seed, and they had the resume to be there. They aren't as overseeded as some of the Big East teams were.
-
Azubuike24Purdue is a 3-seed.
Oh, and I'd probably rank them outside the top 20 if I was ranking teams prior to the NCAA Tournament.
They lost to Iowa and got crushed by Michigan State in the final week of the season. -
september63Florida will be in the Final Four. Over-seeded?

Outside the top 20? You gotta be kidding. -
Azubuike24Definitely. I even picked Florida to cut down the nets, so it's not saying they aren't capable. I loved their bracket and match-ups. They were still over-seeded. Deserved a 3.
-
SportsAndLadyStill disagree with them being overseeded. A team's seed is their entire body of work, not how they ended the season. They were what? 6 in the polls the 2nd to last poll of the regular season? You could maybe argue they should be a 4 seed, but I think a 3 is good for them.
-
ytownfootballDefinitely not seeing Purdue outside the top 20 despite the losses in the final week. That would have been what, a 8-10 spot drop? No way.

Could argue all of these teams were better coming in than Purdue. Much of their influence had to do with what they COULD have been coming into the season. I never thought they were among the NCAA's elite. Now, not saying all of these teams are, but it's very conceivable that Purdue was only a top 20 team and not a "top 12" team as their seed would indicate.
Did you like their chances going into the Tournament as much as Texas, Kentucky, Wisconsin and others who had similar resumes. I didn't. Maybe I'm biased there but I just was not high on Purdue. -
Azubuike24Then again, I filled out 28 total brackets. Had Purdue bounced by tonight in 21 of the 28. Had Georgetown in 17 of them, VCU in 4 of them, Purdue in the other 7. So I guess that's an indicator of how I saw them as a 3-seed, and also saw Georgetown as a more capable 6-seed with Wright back (and I was clearly WAY wrong on that too).
-
SportsAndLady28 brackets? What's the point? lol
-
Big GainRegardless if VCU wins or loses this game will the ESPN talking heads get in line to apologize?

28??? That's pathetic. -

Making money. Get in pools with a lot of people, pick different combos and you're bound to place in a few of them. Come out ahead almost every year, sometimes HUGE if I strike it right in some $20-25 entry fee pools. Had Florida in the Final Four (the year of their first title, nobody else had them past 2 wins or so) and LSU in the Elite 8. Lots of upsets that year with Connecticut (about 80% of people's winner) getting bounced and took home about 3 grand with those 2 picks. $20 to enter and over 200 entries is a nice pot.
Clearly I have my "first couple brackets" that are very conservative and my honest take on how I think it plays out. Then I usually fill out 1 or 2 other brackets in each league with a ton of upsets and long shot Sweet 16, Elite 8 and Final 4 picks. -
Tiger2003Come on VCU!!!!
-
Azubuike24I'm surprised at some of your responses. Everyone knows someone who does a random $5 entry pool with 3 or 4 max entries. Get into a couple of those and that's 12-15 sheets right there. I work for a huge company and in my building alone there are 3 or 4 different pools. Then you have outside friends, relatives, other companies, etc...it adds up fast.
-
SportsAndLadyGotcha azu. I don't have an issue when someone does a lot of brackets for money purposes...but when someone does 20 brackets just to do it, it's kinda lame.
-
Azubuike24No, it's well-calculated for 4 days (going through odds, combos of winners, spreading out who advances when, etc...) with the sole purpose of making money haha.
BTW, VCU is really pounding Purdue to start the 2nd half as well. -
SportsAndLadylook at vcu, wow...talk about shutting people up lol
-
ytownfootballI used to fill out a bunch, a bunch as in 4/5, but have since given it up. I have found that by not filling them out I enjoy the games soooo much more not worrying about effing up my brackets.
