Friday early games

Good for you, Texas is scoring at will versus Oakland. He should get you some second half points as well.

He has 4 first round exits at Texas and 9 first round exits in his career!!

9/18 times he lost in the first round.

Yeah but look at the talent he's had..underachieving is all relative, and when you look at the talent he's had in Austin...

You are right. Mis-remembered lol. I still think its false though. His first year at Texas (as I do with most coaches) is a wash. So Ill give him 3 first round exits. At Clemson and Providence...god for him to make the tourney. It isnt as if we called Bob Knight a bad coach when he didnt win at Army.

Barnes is playing on the second weekend in a good percentage of his years. He is not Tom Izzo, but he isnt as bad as people think.

Charles Barkley on Texas. "They play on athleticism alone. They are not fundamentally sound." My thoughts exactly.

That is true. I guess underachieving is all relative to the person arguing as well. I dont think a S16 is EVER underachieving. He gets to that round about 40% (rough math without looking at numbers). Thats pretty good.

Yeah I agree, I dont think he is a good coach, but I dont think coaching and underachieving necessarily always go hand in hand. This would be one of those cases. He may not coach the talent up to its potential, but based on seeding, and regular season, I think his teams do fine in the NCAA Tourney.

In 12 years at a school like Texas, you gotta have at least 1 national championship. That's just my opinion

Barnes is an awful tournament coach. This year, he has a squad that has actually gotten much better and are very tough defensively and on the glass. It's a team you favor come March, now lets see if Barnes can get the job done. At this point, you have to bet against him to do so.

I think we are kind of on the same page. If you had a coach as good as Knight, and those tourney runs, its underachieving. But Barnes is a bad coach, so he isnt underachieving lol. Thats the way I look at it. I dont know, maybe we just have different opinions on what is what.

And Texas has never won the National Title, so I dont get that.

Jesus. This is one of the few times Ive watch Tennessee this year. They play horrible defense.
  • Azubuike24
Really? If anything, they are very good defensively. Their offense is horrible...Hopson or Harris creating, or a bunch of garbage.

Like I said, this is the first time Ive watched them. UofM has had a lot of open 3s when Tenn seems to get lost on defense. Im sure they are better than this.

Thought for sure Michigan would collapse without Morgan and Hardaway. Nice to see the white guys stepping up.

That's just part of the mismatch, Michigan has 5 shooters on the floor, Tenn has size. The shooters will get open, finally they are dropping.

The basketball IQ out there also lacks, so in any given moment they can look horrible. The story of their season, and the reason they are a 9-seed. Harris is a gem, Goins is a solid college point guard, but Hopson is a classic underachiever and both Tatum and Williams have a hole in the head half the time. Some of their younger guys are actually very solid, like Golden and Hall, but neither get the minutes needed this year. Assuming Pearl survives, Hopson and Harris return, UT will be capable of a better run next year.
  • Laley23
    Pearl is gone, imo.
  • Azubuike24
I kind of agree, but I also wonder, why wait?

If he's gone, then that decision was made a month ago or more.

I'm looking forward to Akron vs. Notre Dame

Keith Dambrot's squad has a lot of experience and they seem to be playing well together at the right time

not sure if they can slow down Hansbrough, though

I agree. They could win 2 games in this tourney and i'd still think so.
  • Azubuike24
Hopson is an idiot. Two straight charges. Again, not the sharpest tool in the shed.
  • stroups
Tennessee's ad should be fired. All the questions the players had to answer yesterday was about pearl. Their baseball team sucks and so does their football team. I can't imagine fans are pleased with him.

First call, imo, was horrible. But after that, you cant barrel in a second time lol.

As for Pearl. I think he was fired before the conference season got under-way. Isnt he still w/o a contract? Maybe in respect to him or the team or something they were always letting him finish the season out. I dunno.

    I agree.

And the AD came out and said this week that he is giving him the tournament basically. He won't be around come April 1, IMO.

I just meant with all the money at Texas currently, and all the facilities and benefits of being at UT (recruiting), you'd think he could get a national title team in there.
