Jimmer Fredette Going Off Again

  • Azubuike24
    33 at halftime for BYU.

14 for 20 from the field thus far. No free throws attempted.

    BYU up 47-42 at halftime.

    Just criminal.

Found a decent stream of the game (don't get CBS College Sports with my package) and caught the last ten minutes. New Mexico has actually matched him. Wouldn't be surprised if they won as BYU is getting nothing else from anyone. Jimmer cools off and UNM may win.

More than doubles Wisconsin's first half total.

Wow. Jimmer is trying to single-handedly make sure that the Lobos don't beat them for a third time.

I hope he puts up 50+.

Almost the combined halftime total in that slugfest!

    Holy shit balls.

Dairese Gary, starting PG for UNM just got carried to the locker room. Doesn't look good for UNM.

Jimmer 0 for 4 to start the half.

    Tied at 49.

Well yeah Jimmer has 23 shots lol how could you play well when 50% of the time Jimmer is shooting the ball? I actually think BYU struggles the most when Jimmer scores a lot of points, because his supporting cast are usually cold when he's hot.

42 points so far on 31 shots...more impressively is the fact that the announcers have mentioned Jimmer's point total and that he hasn't been to the ft line....roughly every 8 seconds.
  • Azubuike24
47 for Jimmer. And counting...BYU pulling away.
  • Azubuike24
Ties his career high of 49. And one. Make it 50.

He scored as many in the first half as Wisconsin did the entire game.

I'm sorry guys, but he has to be the POY. There's NOBODY else out there that carries his team more than Fredette. BYU isn't a tournament calibur team, let alone a team ranked in the top 10 and getting a top 3 seed in the tournament without him. The rest of his team is average at best. There's a lot to be said about carrying your team to a win over a team that's beaten you twice on the year, on a big stage with everyone watching. The stats are there, the record is there, and the highlights are there in droves. I just don't see how you can justify giving it to someone else. There are several very good players there this year, but there's no GOOD team with a single player that makes them good, more than Fredette and BYU.

His team is average at best yes. And the teams they play are also average at best, aside from SDSU. Hes good, but hes not POY.

Do you realize that what he did last night was against a team that beat them twice this year? It wasn't like he hung 52 on the Southwest Montana School for Blind and Deaf Girls.

Do you realize that if many of the prolific scorers in the NCAA took 37 shots they would have a crack at 52 points?

While I believe this to be true, BYU's offense, which consists exclusively of one play called "The Jimmer," dictates that, to just simply win, The Jimmer score close to 40 on a consistent basis. I'm not sure many other players around the country would have the skill set, let alone the resolution or energy, to do so, even with the green light to loft away 37 times a night.

Enjoy this kid's talents, because we may not see another one like him for 50 years.

Do you realize that when a teams offense revolves around one player that teams key on that guy and that it is difficult for him to take 37 shots, let alone make enough of them to score 52 since most will likely be contested?

Look, a guy in college scoring 52 points in a game is so rare can't we just appreciate it for what it is? Why do we need to qualify it or make it seem as if it wasn't that big of a deal. Guys rarely score 40 points in a game in college and he put up 52! Heck, he scored as many points in the first half as Wisconsin's entire team did in their entire game yesterday! He scores like no one we've seen in college in a long time and we probably won't again for a while. Just appreciate the amazing scoring day he had.
