Didn't see a thread about this, mildly surprised at this. He definitely regressed after going to the NIT the first season but then again, it's Providence. You would think a guy would get a little bit more time to develop a program when you're going up against some of those top teams in the Big East.

Little odd I agree. I guess he created too high of expectations his first year.

I don't know. He has a really young team, I think I heard it was one of the top 10 youngest in the country. Then again, they did finish 14th in the Big East and defensively they were awful. They allowed 80+ points 13 times, 90+ points 3 times.

haha, I guess that's somewhat of a courtesy, didn't pull a Chicago Bulls Christmas firing.

I think I called this one on the hot seat thread a couple of weeks back. Providence has been awful the last 2 seasons. You only get time to prove yourself in a conference like the Big East if you are showing at least some improvement.

They jumped on his bandwagon way too quickly anyway. He only had 1 season as a head coach under his belt.

Andy Katz tweets that the buzz in MSG(Big East tourny) is that Herb Sendek is the front runner. He used to coach at Providence under Rick Pitino. What exactly has he done at ASU to make him worthy of this job? Not saying its a better job but it has to be that his familiar to the college.

wonder why in the heck Herb would ever consider that move? Unless he doesn't think his gig @ ASU will last much longer.

Herb is a Pittsburgh native. He had spent all of his time on the East coast. The Big East is 5 times the better conference than the Pac 10. Why wouldnt he be interested?

The Providence job is much better than the ASU job. IMO

It's a better job, but he couldn't handle the expectations (even though they were unrealistic) at NC State and bolted. Why would the Big East pressure be something that appeals to him?
