2011 All American teams

  • karen lotz
I know there are 73 publications that put out their All American teams, but does anyone know when those come out? Is it usually the few days between Selection Sunday and the start of the tourney?

Duke's Nolan Smith was named to Fox Sports' All-American First Team, in addition to being the Fox Sports' National Player of the Year.

With BYU fluttering down the stretch -- at least compared to how the Cougars were playing previous to Davies' dismissal -- I expect Smith to collect a few more of the major ones as well. I think he gets the NABC NPOTY in addition to at least one of the big three (Rupp, Naismith, Wooden).

lol good point. I guess the thread title can be misleading if you don't actually read the first post.

Might as well use the thread to post all of the AA teams so there aren't 73 of them over the next couple of weeks.

Yes. He is averaging over 18 a game, and has the top A/T ratio in America. By an entire assist (over 3rd, half over 2nd). Only 34 turnovers for the season. That is remarkable.

    18.2 PPG
    4.8 APG
    4.2 RPG
    45% 3ptFG
    46% FG
    86% FT

With all apologies to Kemba Walker, you are going to have a hard time convincing me he isnt the best PG in the nation.

    Ehhhhhh I guess...

He just doesn't scream first team all american...maybe the NCAA is having a down year, but he is just a typical 2nd or 3rd team all american type player. I think of 1st team all american as someone you hear about all year having great games. If not for the OSU game, a lot of people wouldn't even know who he is.

I don tknow about that. He dropped 28, 30, 27, and 39 in 4 occasions in the B10. 6 games without a TO, and 16 others with only 1 TO. I cant recall a better A/T ratio for a bona fide AA in a long time.

It may be a down year, but I think he is largely unnoticed because the BTN scoops up the majority of B10 games. He isnt on CBS or ESPN all that much. The guy is a tremendous player, and just never turns the ball over or makes a bad play. The perfect player for how I would want to assemble a team at the PG position.

Lets put it this way, Nolan Smith and Jimmer I would have as guards ahead of Taylor. But the only other 2 I even consider are Kemba and Hansborough. But I like what Taylor brings to the table more than those 2.

If you wanted, you could have 3 big men, but I think the guards are way more worthy of 3 AA than the big men this year.

When I said a lot of people haven't heard of him, I meant because of what you said--Wisconsin does not get a lot of national games...and not to mention--it's Wisconsin lol not a really big market there.
