OT: Charles Robinson of Yahoo! Sports Says More to Come

Charles Robinson, one of the investigative reporters for Yahoo! Sports, was just interviewed on the Waddle and Silvie show on ESPN Radio 1000 in Chicago. He stated that there are two additional high-profile stories he is working on, on which will break within the next few weeks and another that looks like it will break in August. Mr. Robinson was prodded fairly hard by Tom Waddle, but would not divulge any individual or institutional names. He was asked to rate the Tressel story on a scale of 1-10 scale, and gave it an 8. Mr. Robinson rated the story to be broken this month as a 6-7, and gave the late-summer story a 10-rating, without hesitation.

This ends any speculation that this was the "big one," even though most of us thought that already. And the plot thickens.....

If this is true... good for Yahoo. I'd love to see someone bring more accountability to college athletics.

I might add, Yahoo didn't really expose or uncover anything OSU was trying to cover up, they just rushed it.

an 8 seeing as how OSU was already working on it? Please....
  • dwccrew
More sensationalized media. If the Tressel situation is an 8, the next story is going to be a dud and the bigger story to be broke in late summer doesn't sound like it will be anything of interest either.

    Please don't be Michigan.

If RichRod was paying recruits, dude was getting ripped off lol

    hahahahah

If it's Notre Dame, I'll be beyond shocked.

Yahoo was a day late and dollar short on OSU. They really didn't break anything on that. Only rushed the announcement by OSU by a few days. So not sure they have much to brag about with this story. But hey..as someone said, if they can help keep things in line with college athletics...so be it. Its becoming pretty sad and putting a black cloud over college football.

The 6-7 story will be Oregon and the 10 will be Auburn and it will have massive implications against bankers and politicians. The OSU story is far from over.

I absolutely can't find it anywhere now, but I read somewhere during football season that something big is gonna come out about Texas. I have no idea if it's true, but the stuff I read was pretty crazy. I wouldn't be surprised if one of the other two stories involves the Horns.
  • j_crazy
The other 2stories are about OSU too.

Jim Tressel is Terrelle Pryor's father. That's why he tried to cover all of this shit up, to protect his long lost son.

Yahoo has a leak from the NCAA. It is obvious at this point. All they are doing is breaking the story a couple days ahead of when the school/NCAA was going to anyways. Not much "investigative journalism" going on, just have a good source on the inside.

Mr. Robinson is quite an arrogant fellow. He had some pretty pompous tweets during yesterdays presser.

I bet you read his other twitter account. Take a while to read this one. Most of it deals with the UNC situation, but I was surprised as to how confrontational he is.

This could really add to the story if Tressel was skipping across the river when he was at YSU to bang Pryors mom while he was married and the only reason he did it was that he wanted a strong black child to grow up and be his quarterback when he became the coach at OSU.Wait till Mrs.Pryor finds out that he really didn't love her.

Mrs. Pryor doesn't care. I'm sure she is getting paid quite well for her silence.

Yahoo has proven to be credible. I wouldn't take anything they say lightly.

Not that worried about Clemson. If he reports that we are running rampant with constant mediocrity despite having the highest football revenue of any team in the ACC I will tell him I already know about it haha.

They "uncovered" nothing, there was a "leak". Most likely someone within the NCAA.

I think the biggest story in Clemson would be if they found out who is being payed to hype them up every year.
  • ohiotiger33
^^ We were picked to finish 4th in our division last year, 3rd the year before that, and 2nd the year before that. The belief the hype has been huge is overblown. We have just had some amazing skill guys and mediocre teams (see CJ Spiller).

If anyone in the ACC is consistently overhyped it is FSU, or Miami.

The thing I found funny is that all the people in other forums were just going off on tressel and OSU(which was warranted) and acting like their program would never do anything like that. Then when this came out there was a big collective "oh shit..... no wammie no wammie no wammie". Nobody really wants to thow stones because they live in a glass house and college football is one big glass neighborhood.

    Precisely.
