Impermissible benefits. Is there a "proven" dirtier coach in basketball than Drew?? First the threatening deportation of Hanner Perea, and now this. Those are the two instances out there. The rumors about other stuff going on are probably true as well.

MulvaScott Drew is so dirty. Puts a big microscope on the Quincey Miller recruitment too.
-
daveGlad this happened, should prevent the Cavs from taking him. He seemed to struggle most of the year with his focus, this must have been on his mind.
-
thedynasty1998Just looking at Baylor's team you know Drew is dirty and only cares about winning.
-
sportswizuhrdSounds like it was stuff that happened in HS with his mom and Baylor is appealing the decision saying they really had nothing to do with it. I heard this during the pre-game of the Baylor/OU game.

You really think this would effect his draft position? -
Pick6Im not some basketball talent expert..but i dont really see what the hype is with Jones.I watched them like 3 times this year (texas twice, and I think K State the other time), and nothing he has done has made me think "This guy is one of the top basketball players in the nation." And when I've seen highlights on ESPN seems like the Acy guy is always putting up better stats/more highlights.

Called 'potential' -

absolutely, it would be different if he was a clear cut durant/lebron but he's notsportswizuhrd;705577 wrote:You really think this would effect his draft position? -

If its potential and if I were the Cavs, I wouldn't bother with him. I dont see the point in drafting on potential...I'd rather see go by what I see on the court not some physical attributes. But, I'm no scout.. -

Yes. The OC's favorite sports website (Yahoo!) had an interesting column about this. http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/news;_ylt=AuXaDViLFW_9us5EJWg9qnDevbYF?slug=jn-jonesncaa031011
If quarterback Terrelle Pryor wouldn’t have played, Ohio State’s victory over Arkansas in the Sugar Bowl would’ve been a mammoth television ratings bust.
But if Baylor basketball star Perry Jones is relegated to the bench, people are still going to watch the NCAA tournament.
Perhaps that explains why the NCAA allowed Pryor and five teammates to compete in the postseason even though they blatantly – and knowingly – violated NCAA eligibility rules by selling Buckeyes memorabilia to the owner of a Columbus tattoo parlor.
And maybe it explains why the NCAA deemed Jones ineligible Wednesday after an investigation revealed that his mother accepted – and then repaid – a loan from his AAU coach to help pay rent. Jones had no knowledge of the loans, which totaled around $1,000 and were made when he was in high school.
Good gosh, NCAA.
Jones and his family don’t look bad in all of this.
You do.As if knowing all the rules and doing the right thing 100 percent of the time isn’t already tough enough for a 16-year-old, Jones was apparently responsible for his mothers’ actions, too.
Unbelievable.
The father of Auburn quarterback Cam Newton solicited money from school’s for his son’s services, but Newton wasn’t held out Auburn’s BCS title game against Oregon because the NCAA deemed that he “didn’t know” that his father had made those demands during his recruitment.
Well, Jones “didn’t know” about the loan provided to his mother. But suddenly that doesn’t matter.
Did the NCAA seriously think that people wouldn’t notice the double-standard here? -
Pick6is baylor even going to make the dance? 18-13 record and first round b12 loss to oklahoma, i'd guess not.

SportsAndLadyBaylor has 0 chance

HereticBaylor's NIT all the way. They would have had to win yesterday and then beat Texas today to have any sort of shot.
-
CinciX12I don't think this is a big deal at all. This kid's mom pays back a loan to help with a mortgage and Cam Newton's dad did what he did with no repercussions on Cam? The joke continues.
-
MulvaIf that story is true then it's a joke he was suspended.
But Scott Drew is still a dirty mother. -

I made the post more in regards to Scott Drew being the dirtiest coach in basketball. Perry Jones probably has a bank account in the Caymans that we will never know about. -

Also heard that the NCAA has known about this for a while and maybe were trying to make a point to Baylor(just got off probation in June of last year) that we will hit you at the best time. One week before the tournament. Gives them a tiny window to prepare for life without Jones. Whether that life takes place in the NIT or the big dance, is yet to to be determined. -

I don't either and don't think they should but crazy things do happen.
