Explain? I think the anonsers are apart of the program that mostly men are watching so I don't see how it could possible be good for the show to have someone on that the majority of people do not like. But hey, I can not stand brent musberger only because he does every important event and I think he sucks at his job in comparison to many others who should get some of the jobs he does.

You shouldn't be so hard on Jordo. The truth is men accept women in the workplace and just about everywhere else. The fact of the matter is guys do not want women talking to them about sports. Speaking for most guys, women talking about to me about sports I played competitively like football, basketball and baseball would be like me telling a woman what its like to have my period or how it feels to give child birth. I would have no business doing it...

An announcer should be judged on their ability and not on their gender. I am sure there really are people out there that think Doris Burke (or another female) is not good at her job. But I am certain there are also others that dislike her announcing games because she is a woman and they base their opinion of her on that. Obviously the majority of people that watch sports are men but not ALL of them are. So why should ALL announcers be men?

There are women that play football, baseball and especially basketball. Can they talk to you about it?

You are speaking for YOU, not MOST men.

I have absolutely NO problem talking sports with women who know what they are saying. And I would venture to say most men do not either.

It's not that they have had to play the game. Heck, some of the best male announcers did not play sports. I am guessing the last time Bob Costas ever picked up a baseball bat was in Little League. For a man to listen to a female announcer call a football, basketball or baseball game, it hits deeper. I am not necessarily saying its right, but what i am saying is that men do not want women telling them how the game should be played. Its the one last thing in this world they have that they can call their own if you will.

You have a right to your opinions but I 100% disagree. The last thing in this world they can call their own? Really!?

I mean I could turn your logic around and use it in so many ways right now. If men and women can't talk to each other about things that they think are "their own" not much would get accomplished.

I get what your saying and I think the voice plays a huge role in there job. I don't mind her but I could see why employing her would not make much seance. I really do not like the one woman who does football games though, she is awful and they always seem to put her with a moron to make the entire broad cast suck.

I'm not a chauvinist at all. Far from it actually. I just prefer to hear men announcing my sports that I watch. I love women haha. Its just a personal preference. I'm not saying they aren't qualified or anything.

Guys, I am not saying that is how I feel, I am saying that is how it is. Wildcats, I disagree with you that MOST men are ok with a woman calling a men's basketball, football or baseball game. I don't have any statistical data in front of me, but there are constantly threads posted on this board and others out there with men being dissatisfied about women calling football and basketball games. Don't shoot the messenger.

    And you didn't say that.

You said women talking about sports.

^^^ I thought this thread was about Doris Burke which morphed into other female commentators? Sure my initial post did not specifically state female play by play or color commentator, but I didn't think I had to spell it out. If what we are speaking about is a man and woman having a conversation about sports, then yes you are correct most guys are cool with it (most guys in fact love talking to a girl who knows her sports). But, if what we are talking about is a woman color commentator or play by play announcer, I truly believe most men in this county in fact do not like that.

Eh not really. The real world is women playing, watching and announcing sports. But I do appreciate your effort :p

I do not want a woman calling my team's game. Not because she wouldn't be knowledgeable, but because I do not want a female voice calling my game. If that's wrong then whatever. But I have no problem with women broadcasting. Just not my games lol.

I like Doris Burke. She is way better than a lot of the guys that get the color commentating gigs. She is actually so good in and out of breaks and knowing when to talk etc that she could probably do a play-by-play. But that might be taking it too far.

As for some other women doing games, I think they are bad. But thats just cause I think they suck at their job. I think that about a ton of the men who call games as well. But I have a huge appreciation for anyone that can take a call to commercial break seamlessly, given they are typically finishing a thought, looking/talking about what their monitor is showing/having 1, 2, or even 3 voices in their ears from the producer telling them "Go to break". I think Doris Burke, as a color commentator, does this WAY better than most of the PxP guys who typically are in charge of it.

In fact, ESPN thinks that as well, as she is one of the few color commentators they allow to "talk to break" Most of the others they let finish the thought and have the PxP guy go to break.
