Ohio State's first NCAA tourney game date and time?
-
SonofanumpAnyway to figure this out ahead of time assuming they are the overall #1 seed by winning the Big Ten Tourney? Got a friend who needs to submit a personal day before the brackets are announced on Sunday.
-
Azubuike24You can narrow down what region they will be in, likely the East Regional, which I believe would probably put Ohio State in Cleveland or Chicago (possibly other locations, but likely those if the #1 overall seed). You can see which dates those games are played, in this case, both are March 18th and 20th (Friday/Sunday), but there is no way to know game times in advance.
-
Azubuike24I'd say it's a good bet Ohio State's game days will be March 18th, March 20th, March 25th, March 27th, April 2nd and April 4th (if they make the title game). Should work out good for those Buckeye fans wanting to take the Friday before a weekend off.
-
TBone14Lunardi's latest projections have them being sent to Cleveland and playing Friday/Sunday first weekend. If they get the overall 1 seed, they should be sent to Cleveland. If they lose early in Big 10 Tourney and Pitt wins Big East, I could see Pitt gettting the convienient pod and going to Cleveland. Your buddy should just take Thursday and Friday off and do it right.
-
OneBuckeyeThey are a lock for Cleveland, they just have to be in the top 4 and I don't think they can fall out of that. Games are Friday and Sunday, I got my tickets already.
-
Azubuike24Ohio State, as a #1 seed, will almost guaranteed be in Cleveland or Chicago. This means they play Friday. I'd say your buddy has a better chance of trying to request off late than OSU does of playing Thursday/Saturday. Remember, the regional pods are independent of the first and second round games, so even the two most Eastern locations could both host #1 seeds if they are closest to those #1 seeds home.

Even if OSU and Pitt are both #1 seeds there's still the possibility that both will play their second and third round games in Cleveland. The region names really only matter for the Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight. Second and third round sites usually host games that are part of two different regions. -

I'm assuming you are referring to the First Four or whatever as the 1st round? -
wildcats20My mistake, I didn't realize the First Four was actually being called the First Round.

Yea..it is dumb. So 60 teams get a first round bye. -

Exactly, it's basically already locked in that OSU and Pitt will both play in Cleveland. The only way one of them wouldn't, is if they somehow slipped to a 3 seed, which obviously isn't going to happen. -
SonofanumpStill trying to figure out the time of the game.
-
CinciX12Probably about 10pm tonight or so they will announce times. You're out of luck until then.

se-alumReally hope it's after 4pm.

wildcats20How often do the 1 seeds play before primetime on the first weekend?

I am pretty sure it is a mixed bag. I think it is just a guess when they will play. -

Pretty much never the first 2 days.
Add in Nova/GMU being the other game and those 2 will be the evening session.
Marquette/Xavier has no national appeal so they should be in the afternoon with the Cuse game. -
killer_ewokI have something to do at noon on Sunday so I'm praying that Syracuse isn't the noon game Sunday if they make it past Indiana State.
Sorry for the off-topic comment but OSU's game times are important to me for this reason so I'll be checking this thread frequently. -
CinciX12I think X/Marquette and Syracuse/Indiana St will be session 1.
Unless of course they want to guarantee the highest ratings for #1's across the board. Then they might go those games session 2 and guarantee OSU with tons of ratings during the afternoon/early evening. -

Ohio State will definitely be the 2nd game on Sunday. They would never roll X and Syracuse out after them lol.
Do you mean you hope they start at 2:30 or 4:30? -
se-alumOSU @ approx. 4:40 on Friday on TNT.
Gus Johnson will be doing the game!! -

Wait, so the Cleveland games are 2:30 and 4:30 on Sunday? I'll jump out of my fuckin' skin. I thought there might be a noon game and was praying that the Orange wouldn't be the early one. 2:30 or later and I'm good. -
