Then you have your bad teams like Rutgers, Seton Hall, and Providence that are comparable to Indiana and Iowa. That is a lot of games to inflate teams records and make it look like the Big East is some monster conference. The Big East has a lot of very good teams, but they have also have a lot of bad teams which means you will have a lot of teams with a lot of wins. Hell, Minnesota and Northwestern would be NCAA tournament teams if they got to play 6-8 games against the likes of DePaul, South Florida, Providence, etc.

    RPI's of the 11 Big 10 teams and the 11 Big East teams(Excluded were the former C-USA members...Louisville-w/RPI of 20 ,Cincy-33,Marquette-66, USF-160 and DePaul-229)

    Big Ten-Avg of 66.1
    Ohio State 2
    Purdue 8
    Wisconsin 13
    Illinois 41
    Michigan St. 48
    Michigan 53
    Penn St. 61
    Minnesota 62
    Northwestern 91
    Iowa 168
    Indiana 180

    Big East Teams-Avg. of 45.3
    Notre Dame 6
    Pitt 9
    Georgetown 11
    WVA 15
    Syracuse 18
    St. John's 22
    Uconn 24
    Villanova 30
    Seton Hall 92
    Rutgers 125
    Providence 146

To go along with your 6-8 extra wins against DePaul, USF, Providence, Rutgers, Seton Hall...

Each Big East team played every team once and three (3) teams twice. Here is who each of the 5 bottom teams played twice.

    DePaul-USF, Cincy, WVA
    USF-DePaul, Providence, Pitt
Providence-USF, Louisville, Rutgers....wins against Louisville and Villanova
Rutgers-Providence, Villanova, Seton Hall...win against Villanova
Seton Hall-Rutgers, Marquette, Syracuse...wins against St.John's, Syracuse and Marquette

West Virginia, Cincinnati and Pitt are the only teams of the top 11 to benefit from playing on of the bottom 5 teams a second time. All of the top 11 were able to play the bottom 5 at least once and while it gave them a sure fire win(in all but 6 games), it had to bring their RPI down at the same time.

Really the only conference that can debate that is the Big 12, and if the Big 10-Big12 had a challenge, I'd probably take Big 10.

    lol you are clueless.

USF and Depaul are similar to Indiana, but you seriously think Seton Hall and Providence are? Pope and Hazell will be in the NBA next season, SH could be a .500 team in the big 10. Providence with Brooks would also be right there near .500

What teams played the likes of DePaul, USF, and Providence 6 times?

I lol'd. The Big East is a great conference, but come on man, those teams blow and would all finish DEAD LAST in the Big Ten.

Well the Big 12 had a very good OOC record against the Big Ten, so I'd say you'd be wrong.

Missouri beat Illinois on a neutral court
Texas beat Illinois on a neutral court and won @ Michigan State
    Kansas won @ Michigan

I only looked at the top half of the big 12 rankings, but has a big ten team beat a big 12 team this year? Granted they haven't played many games..

Wow you beat our bottom feeders. OSU, Wisconsin, Purdue would beat both Texas and Kansas. There's really no debating that.

Just stating facts..in a big 12 vs big 10 challenge, the bottom feeders still count. Those aren't even bottom feeders anyways, those 3 big ten teams are all tourney teams, although MSU has some work to do I still think they get in.

    Iowa State won @ Iowa
    Colorado beat Indiana
  • SportsAndLady
Ohio State and Kansas is a push, both those teams are #1 seeds in the tourney and it would be a toss up/great game.

Texas and Purdue is a push..both teams can beat anyone and lose to anyone.

Kansas State is the hottest team in the country, they've won 6 in a row including @ Texas and home against Kansas...remember, they were preseason #3..they have finally found their stride and are playing like the #3 team in the country.

A&M and Mizzou are Sweet Sixteen teams..thats not to say they are both going to make the SS, just saying they have the talent to be in the Sweet Sixteen with a favorable seed.

Baylor is the Big 12's Michigan State...tons of talent, no one would be surprised to see either of those two teams make a deep run as a double digit seed...although both teams could miss the tournament lol

Sorry, but these mean nothing. Its your top teams, playing the middle of the pack Big 10, and even lower. Big 12 didn't play any of the top 3 in OSU, Wisky or Purdue. If these three played middle of the pack or lower Big12, they probably would have faired as well as the Big12 did against those teams.
I personally think the big 10 is better. But not by much. There is a reason Kansas dominates the Big 12, with what, 7 straight titles? First of all, they are pretty damn good. But secondly, overall, the conferece year in and year out...is that great. But drop off after Kansas and Texas year in and year out.

your first part is valid..I'm not "bragging" about those 4 wins because like you said, they are the big 12 top teams vs big 10 mid level teams. I was just throwing out that the Big 12 is 6-0 against the Big 10, so if you want to talk about a big 12 vs big 10 challenge, those numbers cannot be overlooked.

As for your second part, the big ten may be better than the big 12...but it is debatable. But I do have a problem with the conference dropping off after KU and UT every year. Look at last year, Baylor and K State were both in the Elite 8. Not to mention, doesn't every conference drop off after the top 2 teams? lol I mean yeah the Big 12 isn't going to have 8 top 10 teams in it lol

Often times the Big Ten gets themselves in foul trouble though in the NCAA's, because they aren't allowed to beat the shit out of each other like they are in conference. Hopefully the Big Ten schools adjust (some years they do, some years they don't).

I don't disagree its debatable, and very close. But I am looking at this from a big picture standpoint, not just this year. MSU this year, is an anomaly. You know as well as anyone, year in, and year out they are a top 5 program. Wisky with Bo Ryan, is consistantly a top 10-15 program. OSU is a a top 10 program and Ill on any given year, is damn good. Purdue is consistantly right there as well. Kansas has dominated, as I said, because they are good..and consistantly, there isn't a "program" that year in and year out really challenges them. On any given year, yes a team or two like Baylor or KSU shows up. Not not on a consistant basis.

Well I wouldn't argue wtih you that the big ten has been better than the big 12 over the last half-decade or so lol so I don't disagree at all. But this year, I would argue Big 12 is better than the Big 10, and anyone else could argue the opposite because they are very close. I don't really think the past has anything to do with this year though.

This will favor Ohio State in general and Sullinger in particular in a HUGE way. After the first couple of games Big Ten officials began calling fouls in the post as if it was an NBA game when Ohio State had the ball, but not when the opponent had the ball. I have never seen such a disparity, and I rarely if ever complain about officials.

There are only 12 players on the Ohio State roster on their website, there are 13 in the picture. Who is #15? There is no #15 on their roster. #30 Is Ravenel, although he's #54 on the official roster.
  • Big Gain
Poor Walter Offutt, he could have been in that picture. The last I heard he was going to walk on at Indiana. Talk about going from the penthouse to the outhouse.
