Cardinal Mooney safety Ray Vinopal commits to Michigan
-
Trueblue23Good to see the Maize and blue get some defensive help.
-
sherm03I've known Ray for years. He's a good kid, and a great athlete with an amazing work ethic. On top of all that, he's a 4.5 student (the whole family is a bunch of brains).
I'm happy for him. I wish he had decided on the blue and gold...but I wish him nothing but success in college!
Go get 'em Ray...just take it easy on ND when you meet up! -
killer_ewokHe had a nice TD run in their 35-7 Division III State Title game win over Columbus DeSales today.
-
OneBuckeyeonly a 2 star on rivals, it will be tough for him to break the two deep, but I think he can do it. Not a bad pick up.
-
bulldog8And the OSU players and fans continue to lick their chops I'm just teasing. Ray has put together a very impressive career at Mooney, but the thing that makes this young man stand out on paper and what truly determines his future success is the GPA. A select few of high school athletes make it to the next level to play college football and even fewer go on to play in the pros. I can't imagine Ray playing on Sundays, but this young man will go on to do great things and he chose a great academic school in Michigan. Although the football program is rebuilding, I expect nothing but the best from Ray.

mervNice pickup!! Go Blue!!!
-
stroupsI don't know how much he will contribute in football but Michigan needs kids like this to help build the character of their football team.

Sucks? When is the last time you started a game? Let alone a D-I game? Let alone for Michigan?dat dude wrote: Um, he sucks. -

Kyle McCarthy was only a 3 star recruit on Rivals. I put no stock into the star rating...OneBuckeye wrote: only a 2 star on rivals, it will be tough for him to break the two deep, but I think he can do it. Not a bad pick up. -

I don't put much stock in the star system either, but that's the best example you could come up with?sherm03 wrote:

When were you? When was Charlie Weis? When was the great Bill Bellicheck? Not saying his opinion is correct, but does only ex D1 players opinions matter?sjmvsfscs08 wrote:

sjmvsfscs08haha I had the opportunity to play D-I football until I wrecked my neck my senior year. Next hit I take will be my last.
That wasn't the point. Jordan Kovacs obviously doesn't "suck." He starts safety at Michigan. It's far better than 99.9% of the posters on here. Have some god damn respect, or at least some common sense to realize the kid is a pretty damn good athlete to make it that far.
By the way, I hate Michigan. I am both a Notre Dame fan and an Ohio State student. But I went to school in the same city he did and know of the family, they are tremendous people. -
Cmhs74Best of luck to Ray as he continues with his career. Except when they play Ohio State.

Mooney44CardsSeriously, can everyone just shut the fuck up, either congratulate or give your thoughts on Ray Vinopal, or don't post on the damn thread. This isn't some pissing match over star ratings.

LOL. Even though that is a true statement, your clueless if you don't think McCarthy is a good ball player. He's become one of the better safeties in the NCAA this year and is easily the best player on that ND defense. And it pains me to say anything good about any player from ND.KnightRyder wrote:

Star ratings mean something. But once he walks on that practice field they mean nothing--they're not an indication of how a player will develop at the next level. He could be an All American for all we know, I wish him luck--except against the Buckeyes.
Kovacks (or whatever), Kyle McCarthy...whatever, I have a better example--AJ Hawk was a 3 star. -
Lovejoy1984Mangold was a 3 star as well. Game, Set, and match.

SQ_CraziesJimmy has always been good at finding those guys with low ratings who translate well to the next level. The thing about them is they're usually well coached in high school, good students of the game and heady players, good worth ethic and they have a brain which makes up for what they may lack in physical ability to some other guys. Doesn't mean he'll turn into a superstar but Vinopal fits that mold, Dick Rod may have found himself a player like that.
