Thank you, Seth Davis, for saying what I have been saying

  • Laley23
Ive heard people complain about him, but not in masses like here. I happen to think he is pretty good and knows his stuff. As long as Im not going to him for analysis of plays and stuff like that, I happen to think he is pretty good.

Check out where he went to college. Definitely negative.

(No, I'm not speaking about academics)

I love Seth, but he was beyond obtuse with this particular piece (see the "Kansas kids did not east breakfast before playing Texas, therefore weren't fully prepared for Texas" excuse part of his essay). THAT is gold.

The breakfast part was just dumb, but the point of his article still is valid.

    haha...I can't resist.

Yes, it's very possible that Kansas didn't play their best against Texas due to Robinson's family tragedy, but there's no way to know for sure. Even if that didn't happen, Texas might have still won the game. There is absolutely no way you can say with certainty that KU would have won that game. You just can't. It's an excuse. Beat them next time and then it will be settled.

I'm not trying to be a jerk here, but I just can't understand why this keeps coming up when there is no way to prove anything.

I just think all of this situation, especially all of the conversation and debate on Ohio Chatter, is really hilarious (besides the dead body involved, obviously). But, as I said weeks ago when this all began, I do see where you are coming from. If someone can't, then they are a liar. It would only be human nature for the KU players to have been affected. But it isn't an excuse.

I'm not trying to make an excuse, I'm just predicting KU would have won that game if it (dead mom) didn't happen.

I take my original comment back. Every time I see something like "the dead body" or "dead mom," I do lightly laugh.

I suck as a human being. Lol. :D (I do feel bad for her, though. I'm not a complete prick.)

[Let it be noted that I am laughing at the "situation," not the mother who was X'd out.]

I'm just laughing directly at S&L.

You're not predicting shit.....a prediction is on what is to come.

I "predict" if they would have manned the fuck up, went to bed, and ate their breakfast, then they MIGHT not have blown a 15 pt lead.

No you're not laughing directly at me, you are laughing in your head to a computer screen.

You can predict what would happen in the past if you are talking about something that never occurred dumbass. Like "I predict if the Jets were in the Superbowl this year instead of the Steelers, they would have beaten the Packers." See how that works?

I'm laughing that Seth Davis just came out with this. Im also laughing at S&L saying he is not using it as an excuse. I remember reading S&L say something on the line of "if Robinson's mom did not die the day before Kansas would not have lost that game."
  • hoops23
So why did KU lose to KSU then?

Also, how do we know if his mother didn't die if KU didn't come out with that 15 point lead to begin with? What if, KU comes out flat completely and just gets blitzed by Texas?

To continually bring this point up is pretty stupid. The only thing we can truly go by in this instance is what actually happened, and what happened was Texas winning the game.

I mean you guys seriously haven't gotten it yet? I'm not saying with 100% certainty that KU would have won, I'm saying I WOULD PREDICT THEM TO WIN had they not had to go through that the night before the game.

They very well could have lost...I'm saying that it wouldn't have, in my mind.

As I posted in that in-game thread, Kansas lost to Kansas State due to Brady Morningstar's pet snake crossing the great divide and expiring the evening before. It was covered in all the local reptile magazines.

S&L, if I were you, I would just let it all go. In the grand scheme of things, this is very insignificant (not you, dead Mom).

You are now leading the Big XII by a half game. From what I can tell, you are in control of your destiny with regard to the Big XII championship. Do work. If you play Texas later in the conference tourney, so be it. Then KU will have its chance to avenge the mother's slaying. (Was she killed? I honestly can't even remember now.)

I am looking forward to the season capper at Missouri for the Border War. That will be a striking game, I have a feeling.

I mean I honestly don't think it's that big of a deal, but some people on here acted like there was 0% chance that KU was affected by her death, so yeah I'm gonna say that's completely false.

As for Mizzou (assuming they get by a pesky A&M squad wednesday), I really don't see Bill Self losing that game going for his 7th consecutive Big 12 title...there's just no way he lets the arch rivals take that achievement away from him. He'll have them as ready for that game as he will have them for the conference tourney, imo. Mizery could very well win that game, but I see KU taking it, and their 7th consecutive conference regular season title.

Because Seth Davis was saying exactly what I was saying, so I thought I'd let everyone know.

I actually agree with you on the main point, S&L. I think this was a tremendous factor in Kansas losing the game.

That being said...you can't predict something that has already taken place, Miss Cleo. Your statements aren't predictions, they're assumptions. They are not the same. Now go ahead with the lame attempt at making me look stupid while you show how right you are, again.

Right. You can't predict the past. If this, if that.....its over. lmao....move the fuck on.

I think this is because of how and why his article was used in this thread...with that being said, however, IMO-Seth Davis is one step above Doug Gotleib, which ain't saying a whole lot.

    BUT NO ONE CARES!!!!

And before you say, "well you care, you checked the thread." Well I checked the thread to see the idiocy it contained. And I wasn't disappointed.

Okay I don't know why everyone thinks i'm some huge asshole all of a sudden lol I made this very small prediction/assumption/whatever the hell you wanna call it that if TRob's mother didn't die, they wouldn't have lost to Texas...I kinda thought everyone would just take that for what it is--a guess!! But no everyone thinks i'm speaking as if I know for a fact, when in reality I was just making a prediction had she not died.

matik--stop saying move the fuck on like I'm actually caught up in this. KU is in the lead for their SEVENTH consecutive big 12 reg. season championship, I really could give two shits about that UT game...I made the comment after the game, everyone acted like I just said I was Jesus reincarnated, and now it looks like I am the one who gives a shit. I really do not care, I just thought it was interesting Seth Davis brought up my same exact point so I thought I'd post it for the people (cough cough tiger) who thought there was absolutely no affect from her death on this team.

If no one cares, then no one cares. I don't care lol I've posted a lot of threads that no one cared and it quickly slid to the 4th page with the always embarrassing "0 posts, 1 view" next to the thread. I prefer this one though, 3 pages and lots of views, even if no one cares.
