Nice subjectivity to try and prove a point...I would put money on that bet, btw. -
athlete37SportsAndLady;694395 wrote:So now you're saying that because St. Johns has more impressive wins than those other teams, they are the best team in the country when they're on?
That's not how it works.
You don't beat down that many top 25 teams that badly by sheer luck. When they're on, they're the best team in the country. How else do you explain the fact that they were up by 22 most of the second half against Duke before calling off the dogs? Beat ND by 18 in a game that wasn't near that close. Beat UConn by 17. Beat Pitt when they were number 1. When they're on, the best teams in the country have not been able to keep up -

Which team would you think will make it? Arizona? Memphis? Mizzou? KState? Not likely on any of those. Please tell me you think Arizona is that good after losing by 8 @ USC and 22 @ UCLA this weekend. -

But what I'm saying is, you don't know if Kansas, Duke, Ohio State, and Texas would have beaten those teams because they didn't schedule them. Just because one team has that many good victories doesn't mean they are the best team, just means they play a lot of tough opponents and they themselves are tough too. But best team? No way.
If we were going by your logic (lots of great wins=best team), I could just say they lost to St. Bonaventure and Fordham (a 6 win team) so they must be one of the worst teams in a major conference. -

Not saying that at all, but rarely do you find a team whose schedule does not have a sweet sixteen team on it. -
centralbucksfanBack to the subject...I think St. Johns is a scarey team. They are playing very well at the right time of the year. They are a team I personally don't want to see in OSU bracket.

Wooballathlete37;694394 wrote:Care to throw out any support for that? OSU's is 1 for 3 in tough road games, and Kansas has yet to beat a team that will make it to the sweet 16. In the Garden St. John's wins over both teams I would think
Are you just going to discredit OSU's wins @ Florida and @ Florida St (w/ Chris Singleton) because they go against your argument? -
BigAppleBuckeyeIf St. Johns winds up in the East Region, with the 3rd and 4th round games in Newark, they could be a VERY dangerous team come tourney time.
-
athlete37Did not say they are the best team. I said when they are on they are the best team. They are the most inconsistent team in the country. Therefore not the best. But when they are on, I would bet them against anyone at the Garden-- hence why they're rated 15th despite 9 losses1

I guarantee if OSU, Dook, and Kansas play the very best they are capable of playing, they beat the Johnnies st their best by double digits.Did not say they are the best team. So no they aren't the best team in the nation at their best. -
karen lotzGuarantee? Might be a little strong.

athlete37So what was Duke's excuse being down 20 some midway through the second half against St. John's then?

Were they playing their best? No.So what was Duke's excuse being down 20 some midway through the second half against St. John's then? -

lol he doesn't get it...Duke was not at their best, athlete. Hence, the 20 point loss. -
MulvaSyracuse is the best team in the country when they're on. They won by 17 points @ MSG. How else could that be explained?

No Seton Hall is the best team in the country when they're on. They won by 22 @ Syracuse. -
MulvaWell fuck me sideways. If Seton Hall played Duke they would probably be up by about 59 points midway through the 2nd half.
