And that little dude for Indiana seems like a smaller, less athletic Aaron Craft, just an absolute pest. He also needs about 3 seconds to get off that shot put of a jumper off but if he gets its lights out.

    Thank You.

Rise and fire! I love that Gus calls games on the BTN.

I hate both teams. But I can't turn it all because of Gus
  • karen lotz
    Wow.
  • wildcats20
What happened? My damn DVR only lets me record 2 shows at a time and I had to turn it off...

I don't understand what IU is trying to do. They are terrible as it is, and yet they are trying to just stand around with the ball till the clock gets inside 10, then just throw a shot up.
  • karen lotz
Just some absolute boneheaded plays by Indiana. Moore coming down the lane, dude from Indiana is set up to take charge. Moore stops about 2 feet away and jumps straight up for shot, literally after the ball leaves his hand the guys takes step forward underneath him and then flops. And 1. Back to back missed lay ups. Bad rebounding. Somehow they are still only down 9 with chance to cover.

And the Fightin' Sidney Lowes are hanging in against Carolina.
  • SportsAndLady
We need some bullshit 3's at the end for IU lotz lol

lol yeah, they do just dribble around then someone gets the ball and backs it out so his heels are inside the midcourt circle with 12 seconds left on the clock. He then proceeds to blow by his defender only to miss an uncontested lay up.

    That TO hurt...

God damn Crean. The dude has an oven mitt on his hand. Is there no one else with two functional hands available to take shots down the stretch?

Welp, that was the worst coached game of the season by Coach Crean. I just cant describe how upset I am with that shit. It would literally take me 15 minutes to type up everything that went wrong out of him tonight. Not that I expected to win, but Lord, Crean gave us NO CHANCE with some of the shit he pulled.

Blah...I just keep my head down and think about the future these days Laley.

Im going to go to bed tonight, hoping to wake up in 20 months to this line-up:

    PG - Hulls(SR), Yogi Ferrell(FR)
    Wing - Watford(SR), Oladipo(JR), Sheehey(JR), Maurice Creek(SR), Ron Patterson(FR), Austin Etherington(SO), (Jeremy Hollowel(FR)l**/Gary Harris**(FR))
    PF - Hanner Perea(FR), Elston(SR)
    C - Cody Zeller(SO), Peter Jurkin(FR)

    **Uncommitted still.

That's a nice list of incoming...gotta be excited about those, but Crean just doesn't impress me, not sure I recall how you feel about him.

Underwhelmed at the moment. I didnt even bother giving an opinion the last 2 years because I didnt want to pass judgment on his team when they were so devoid of anything resembling talent.

But this year I thought they couldve been a UofM and they havent been. They have been bad...but I also expected our 7 footer to be eligible and for Creek to be healthy and productive. I hate, hate, hate his substitution patterns. I hate the stupid dribble drive offense he runs. I cant stand his choice to play zone at the wrong time. I just really hate a lot of what he does in game. I mean today Johnson goes down with 2 fouls and heads to the bench. WHY ON EARTH do you now choose to go zone. My dad and I were so pissed and promptly T. Johnson hits 2 threes before DJ Byrd hits one. It was like...DUH wtf did you think would happen. Why was verdell Jones on Moore at times tonight? Why does Daniel Moore or Bobby Capobianco even play, let alone when the game is tight?

I hate how a guy is playing well, Victor Oladipo, and at the next whistle is "tired" and on the bench. Crean just does....ugh, so many things that I look at as a coaches son of 2 generations and wonder how he got to the level hes at lol. He refuses to abandon the dribble drive offense, despite we have NO ONE who can execute it.

I realized about 6 games ago that this team is less talented than I originally thought they would be, despite the emergence of Hulls, Oladipo, and Sheehey, so I am going to hedge my comments for about another 9 or 10 months. We will have a line-up with more talent and not full of underclassmen. I still dont think the offense will look like much, because we still wont have any dribble drive players, but we add the most important piece to what this team lacks, a true post presence.

If they dont make the NIT with ease next year, my head might explode. 3 years of painful basketball has been tough enough, I cant go through a season of bad basketball when I expect to be pretty good.

Now, 2012...we better be top 4 AT WORST in the Big Ten. That team is going to be loaded, and the true talent on the team (ie NBA players) will not HAVE to start, though they might. We will have the upper classmen to go along with the young guns, and have the depth should we need it.

Basically, to completely sum it up, Im completely underwhelmed by Creans coaching this year. I love his recruiting and his enthusiasm and all that. He gets Indiana and respects the history etc. But his coaching I have questioned more than Mike Davis, which says a lot. But I think his offense can work with the right players...and we dont have that yet, so I am still, grudgingly, going to wait to judge him till he has guys who can actually compete game in game out in the Big Ten.

Some of his substitution stuff have left me wondering WTF, particularly Oladipo. Just seems like a guy you could ride through some thin times talent wise, I dunno. I don't follow enough IU to know any better really so thought I'd ask and never heard you give a resounding backing of the guy or otherwise. You basically are giving the guy @ 2 more seasons before he gets put on the hot seat?

Id say at least 2 seasons. Probably through 2014, because of how recruiting works these days. IU athletic dept is still paying Lee Corso (ok not really, but they owe a lot of coaches a lot of money), so I doubt he gets let go before the start of year 8 of his 10 year contract. Plus, he has such a great 2013 and 2014 recruiting class already to go with Cody Zeller 2011 and the extremely strong 2012 classes. It would be tough to watch that talent leave once again. You have a possible program maker in Trey Lyles http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/recruiting/player/_/id/124509/tre-lyles (2014) so he alone may keep Crean on board lol. I do think itll be moot though, because I think Crean will succeed at IU, but his coaching may keep him from a lot of titles (Big Ten or otherwise), but I do think he will compete for them every year.
