OSU should be the new #1

Are you fucking high? SDSU could hang with OSU, but they would not beat OSU. OSU, Kansas and a healthy Duke team are the 3 best in CBB this season.

I couldn't care less about these polls. As long as OSU gets a 1 seed (hopefully in Cleveland) all will be well.

If only there was a tournament to decide who the best team was.

I know. I hate that we have computers telling us. Oh wait.

The anomaly of having more than OSU at just about everything. No actually, literally everything when it comes to basketball.

    Is Irving definitely coming back?
This duke team has obviously adjusted to life without Irving. Introducing a new player into the mix this late into the season will be interesting to watch. Irving's departure allowed Smith more opportunities and he has thrust himself into the NPOY conversation. Irving's departure led to more opportunities for Curry, Dawkins, and Thornton. Who loses time?? It will interesting to monitor this situation.

FWIW, Coach K told Dan Patrick last week Irving wasn't coming back this year, not even in tournament. He will not be ready in time.

That is a completely different version of the story from what I have been hearing. Everyone will have their answer in the next two weeks.

Duke will be No.1 if they win and San Diego State will be No.2
    What?

That's just what K wants everyone to think. He's a crafty one. :)

If Irving does return, prescott brings up a good point. It will be interesting to see how that affects the dynamic of the current Blue Devil team. Kyrie undoubtedly makes them a better team when he's on top of his game, or when they've all been playing together for an extended period of time, but it might be difficult to throw him back in the mix at the most crucial point in the season. It would be just my luck, however, for him to come back in and pick up right where he was before the injury.

I suppose it doesn't really matter though. K is getting title #5 this season no matter what happens. Right, rec? :)

Yeah, yeah. Get that reverse psychiatry out of here:) (No, really, please take a handful of Thorazine and stfu. Haha j/k.)

As we are taught at a young age, those who fail to remember history are condemned to repeat it. I seem to remember the last significant toe reclamation process on Tobacco Road working out rather pleasurably for a certain point guard and team. What was his name? Wes Miller, maybe?

We both know that players like Tywon Lawson and Kyrie Irving are immediately a positive addition to any team they are added to. There will be no "interesting development process" when Irving returns. Duke will instantly become the national title favorite. The more I hear of Kyrie's swift and auspicious course to full recovery, the more I begin to twinkle. (Yes, that sounds straight homosexual, but, with the chance of equaling the score at FIVE this close, I don't give one damn:D)

    rec,

I think Lawson and Irving's situations are actually quite different. Lawson sat out the ACC Tournament and the opening round of the NCAAs after playing the entire season. Irving has been out for more games than he actually played, and will have missed quite a bit of actual time. Since Duke has played so long without him, I think it might actually take a little time to adjust. Maybe I'm wrong, but I hope not. :)

Either way, though, the score WILL be knotted at five...and, of course, I'll want to jump off the nearest ledge.

If you don't mind me asking, where do you "hear" this stuff? I find it funny when people are "hearing" things(Buckeye fans included), but don't reveal where they are hearing it. It feels like their trying to be an insider w/ no actual insider knowledge.

Im sure Rec reads the Premium Board on Rivals Duke site. I know I do for Indiana. Mike "Peegs" Pegram supplies the members with premium information. In other words, rumors he hears from being paid to do so and discloses it only to those others who pay. We can pass the info along, but cant copy and paste it or source him unless he says it is binding and an absolute. Its typically how (and I have no idea how OSU works) but Duke, UNC, Indiana, etc fans know about the recruits they are after and where they are likely to go. Most IU fans knew Cody Zeller had choosen IU a couple weeks beforehand, though it wasnt confirmed until about 2-3 hours before his announcement.

So why not say so-and-so is saying......?? "I'm hearing" makes someone seem like they are trying to act more important than they are. Honestly, it's just a pet peeve of mine and I'm probably making too big a deal about it...lol.

You are making too big of a deal about it. In message board 'lingo' "i'm hearing" just means you've read it on a premium board.

Yeah, it isnt cool to be spewing peoples names (or even usernames) around when they are giving info to people who pay 100$ a year to read it. I cant just come on here and say what I read or what people tell me in chat rooms on those sites because you havent paid for it. Now, sometimes when it is confirmed, and not sourced, we are allowed to tell others. But at that point, I just say it, and leave out the "im hearing" stuff lol.

I understand, but if your not supposed to share the info, why say anything at all?? You're still giving the information that others don't pay for, just not sourcing it.

Come on, guys. Isn't it obvious? reclegend22 gets his information from dukefan (or trinitybbfan). Don't you remember his "sources in The Triangle"? ;)

According to his twitter, Kyrie is "op(toe)mistic" right now. He's gonna come back and they're gonna repeat. No doubt in my mind.

If Duke winning its fifth national championship means you taking a leap from an office window, on behalf of Ohio Chatter, you will be missed. "Jump They Say" by David Bowie would serve as beautifully-suited background music as you plummet. :)

Not true. That's ridiculous. I am Christian, Coach K's pet fish. I thought that was common knowledge on this board.

For those concerned, I had dinner at Fuddruckers with Greg Paulus once, and had my picture taken beside J.J. Redick. I think I blocked one of Marty Pocius's shots in a Duke Camp pick-up game in the summer of 2008, but I'm not sure. It might just have been Arthur, a camper from Illinois. I have a ton of wall posters and autographs and owned a 'Blue Devil' comforter when I was eight. Lol.

As Laley surmised, I get most of my information from Duke "contacts" and "insiders" associated with the Blue Devil boards (sometimes the premium boards). I do know Duke's academic and recruiting coordinator, Kenny King, pretty well -- as in, I could grab a pair of tickets for a game in Cameron on occasion, though I haven't in a couple of years -- from having camped and worked Coach K's camp many summers in the past, but he certainly doesn't send me secret information about Kyrie Irving's hurt toe. Lol. Additionally, as I openly stated in earlier posts, I get a lot of information and "deeper insight" just from listening to Triangle sports radio that I stream on my computer.

yeah I get it. But people give the information with their name behind it to only those who pay. Thus, WHERE they got the info is still private to the ACTUAL source. If I spread it as unsourced, just "heard" info the original source is safe and the guy who spread it from the original source is safe. Im safe because I present it as "heard" info. It basically has to go to a third party (me) before no one is connected to the information. The people who give it initially dont so much care if it gets out, but they want to be protected and only give it to those who pay in case it is wrong. The people who pay to get it dont care if its wrong because they know the "source" and know that he is reliable and isnt making it up...it just happens that they may not be 100% sure...if any of that made sense lol.
