Who's Leaving Early?

  • Quint
I just heard a report that said Cameron Heyward is staying next year and not entering the draft. It is extremely early and with the possibility of a new collective bargaining agreement in the NFL where rookie draft picks won't make near as much money in the past. . . I'm skeptical. However. . . I got to meet Heyward over the summer and I thought he seemed like the type of person that getting the degree would mean more than getting the millions of $, a la James Laurinaitis.

Any other guesses on who will be leaving early? Clausen, Tate, Thad Gibson?

    Confirmed:
    Dez Bryant WR OK. St.
    Sam Bradford QB OU

Clausen and Tate probably bolt early due to the rookie salary cap that's probably coming in 2011 and Weis most likely getting fired.

Depends on what happens with the rookie salaries.

Between the two, I see Heyward staying and Gibson leaving if it came down to it. Those two should be the only two from OSU that will be thinking about leaving early (off the top of my head).

If Clausen leaves then Tate does, I highly doubt he will risk having a bad year due to a new QB.

I've heard rumors that Hines and Chekwa are both going to submit paper work, but I'm guessing neither go.

My very early non exhaustive list of underclassmen most likely to leave would be

    Carlos Dunlap - Florida
    Joe Hayden - Florida
    Eric Berry - Tennessee
    Morgan Burnett - Georgia Tech
    Gerald McCoy - Oklahoma
    Rolando McClain - Alabama
    Navorro Bowman - Penn State
    Arrelious Benn - Illinois
    Dezmon Briscoe - Kansas
    Jonathan Dwyer - Georgia Tech
    Demarco Murray - Oklahoma
    Jahvid Best - Cal

I imagine that everyone that has a chance to get drafted in the first 3 rounds will at least submit the paperwork. That rookie salary cap is going to force them to.
