Ok gotcha. I think that is a horrible guide line. ET should have his number retired. -
Tiger2003Well Diebler is a 40% shooter and is on the verge of being in the top 25 all time. He is only 31 away.
As of right now JJ attempted 311 more 3 point FGs. He also made 129 more at this point in time. At this point JJ has played about 15 more games. -

In reality, Laettner did not shoot 100's of threes. His total in a 4-year career was 167.All these guys put up 100's of 3's, they were all clutch with the big shot and shot above or at 40% for their careers.
In reality, Ewing(39%), T.Hill(38.6%), Scheyer(38%), Ferry(38.8%) , and G.Henderson(32.9%) all shot under 40% from the 3-point line for their careers.
This according to GoDuke.com.

Not only were they putting up good %, they were clutch, Ewing, Laetner, Langdon, Williams, Scheyer, T. Hill, Battier, Ferry, Henderson, Hurley, Capel

I left alot of good shooters off the list that shot over 36-37% or better.
Fail -
Tiger2003Also I would like to add Jeff Capel to the list he shot 39.8% and Jay Williams shot 39.3%
Yes Laetner did shoot 48%
1-1 Freshman year
6-12 Sophomore Year
18-53 Junior Year
54-97 Senior Year
79-163 Career -

You would not be thinking......or you are piss poor at being facetious. You really should come out of your basement and go to a few small school high school bball games. Most all of them have a 3-point shot fund raiser at halftime of the JV and Varsity games. You pay a dollar to shoot a 3-pointer, if you make the shot you win 2 dollars, if you miss you donate your dollar to whatever organization is running the fund raiser. -
oberhausCreating shots on his own WAS JD's game in high school. Its NOT his game at OSU. They arent asking him to create. They are asking him to get open, catch, and shoot. He is doing what they need him to do.
Jon can create on his own, but now its been 4 years since he was asked to. This year he is going to the hoop more and also pump faking 3's to step inside and shoot a long two. -
Prescott
You referenced Henderson. If you meant someone different than Gerald(the most recent Henderson), you should have included a first name.they were clutch, Ewing, Laetner, Langdon, Williams, Scheyer, T. Hill, Battier, Ferry, Henderson, Hurley, Capel
I do not care about your point. I care about the accuracy of your statement and it was in ERROR.If you want to use numbers to support your case, you should use accurate numbers and not inflated numbers that support your point.these Duke player within 1-2% points are just as good.
Let's also not forget that for three seasons Diebler has shot the 3-point field from a distance further than any college player who played prior to the 2008-09 season.
I agree that Diebler's jersey should not be hung in the rafters.Hr is a complimentary player. -

He could create his own shot when he wasnt playing against superior athletes who are just as big if not bigger than him. He struggles to create his own shot at the college level. He is what he is....a spot up 3pt specialist and theres nothing wrong with thatoberhaus;675233 wrote:Creating shots on his own WAS JD's game in high school. Its NOT his game at OSU. Oh i def agree with that, thats kinda a given that hes no where near rafters materialccrunner609;675286 wrote:Sure theres not, but people dont need to be talking about the rafters. -
thedynasty1998Diebler certainly didn't help to get his jersey in the rafters with his play today.

vball10setGreat kid, great shooter...but as I've said many times, it he ain't scoring, he ain't helping us. I watched him today off the ball more than I ever have, and he just doesn't do a whole lot to get himself open. Now I don't know if this is by design or not, but he stands around an awful lot, and when he does move, he doesn't seem to go sprint to a spot or go hard off of screens. We need JD to get more looks and more shots, but he just doesn't appear to work for it...this is JMO.

This has been my problem with Diebler for a long time. It never looks as though he's going hard or anything, just out there going through the motions. -
JesterAlso, I went to bdubs to watch the game, so I couldn't pay attention as closely as I would have liked. Why did Thomas only get a few minutes playing time?
-
ytownfootballDiebler has more assists on his side to Sully than anyone I'm willing to bet, if he ain't raining threes he has no value to some of you lol.
-
thedynasty1998I know I've been critical of Diebler, but what I'm about to say is about the game yesterday, and not his body of work.
He played very poorly yesterday. Certainly didn't help his team win.
And first off, if his biggest asset is passing the ball to Sullinger, that tells me everything there is to know about his game. His one post feed to Sullinger that they kept replaying yesterday was a pass that my sister could have made.
1. There is no reason he should have played as many minutes as he did. Thomas could and should have been used yesterday.
2. His defense was horrendous. How many times did he close out poorly on shooters? There was a play late in the first half where his man caught the ball on the wing and went straight to the rim for a layup without any defensive pressure stopping him. It was embarrassing.
3. He doesn't make a play the whole game, and once they go up 10 he decides to hit a 3. That tells me he's a follower and can't be relied upon to be a leader of this team. How about making a play when things are tough?
4. End of the game Sullinger gets that rebound and hits the 3. They showed the replay and Diebler was floating around half court. That play alone told me what I needed to know about Diebler yesterday. He's soft and his head wasn't in the game.
I've said it a thousand times, but he doesn't show up in big games and when he's not shooting the ball, he has NO VALUE. It has never been more apparent than yesterday. -

Again, this is comical that in Diebler's defense someone has to say he is good at post feeds. -

Id assume it was his defense? I was wondering the same thing. -
karen lotzthedynasty1998;676485 wrote:Again, this is comical that in Diebler's defense someone has to say he is good at post feeds.
It isn't just because he is good at post feeds. The reason that is brought up is because Diebler is the one making the entry pass the most because the guy guarding him can't immediately double Sullinger on the catch because Diebler is shooting nearly 50% on 3s. So again, its not like a bounce pass is his main weapon, its the threat of him passing from the wing and then getting a wide open look if his man collapses on Sullinger. If Diebler's man stays on him, that gives Sullinger more room to operate or forces a double team from somewhere else which leads to a wide open shot for Buford or a driving lane for Lighty off a pass or a dunk for Lauderdale. You don't think Matta does that by design? It really isn't a hard concept to grasp, especially someone with your knowledge of basketball. -

To be fair, Diebler had a huge 3 against Northwestern once they took the lead at the end of the game. I can't recall the other tough games offhand, but that one does stick out in my mind. -
thedynasty1998Most teams are not doubling Sullinger off the entry pass so your point isn't as correct as you might believe. Most are doubling from the back side big or off of Craft on the dribble.

centralbucksfanLOL...comical. OSU losses and its ALL ON DIEBLER. The usual for our knowitall Dynasty. Such a hater. He has been waiting all year for yesterday and was probaby happy OSU lost so he could run to the OC and spout off. I woulda bet money before even coming on today that his was going to happen. OSU is 24-1, Diebler sucks and Matta can't coach. Fucking clueless.
