Name teams in your favorite conference that will NEVER win a BCS bowl
-
sleeperBig Ten
Indiana
Purdue
Northwestern
I could see the others pulling it off one year, but these teams, there is just no way.
Thoughts? -
september63I dont have a favorite conference. I do pull for the Independents. So Ill say Notre Dame!
Also, never say never. Northwestern atleast played in the Rose Bowl in 1996. -

So you think Army and Navy will win a BCS bowl game? Navy maybe, but no chance for the Cadets. The Glen Davis era has long passed. -
Fab1bNorthwestern, Indiana, Minnesota, Purdue

ytownfootballIndiana is probably the farthest from being able to attain this goal. Northwestern under Pat Fitzgerald is capable of doing some good things though in my opinion. He's a damn good coach. The only obstacle he faces is being able to get recruits, tough to do at NW.
-
Fab1bI also want to say Illinois but with so much talent in that state/Chicago area they have to get it together at some point don't they?
-
sleeperI agree with Minnesota. Almost forgot about them.

Zook can recruit but can't coach his way out of a wet paper bag. He won't be there forever. -
Tobias FünkeNever? Don't be a fucking idiot.
Purdue and Northwestern have both played in BCS bowls already, in the Rose Bowl in 2001 and 1996 (I'm aware 1996 was pre-BCS), respectively. All it takes is one stud QB and a decent corp, or perhaps a phenomenal young coach. -

You're just mad because you don't have a conference lol.Tobias Fünke;669289 wrote:Never? Don't be a fucking idiot.

Tobias FünkeYeah, that's it.

That, and no one who isn't currently in a conference will ever win one either. You know who I'm talking about, and the truth hurts. -

Are you willing to bet on that? Never is a long time. -
sherm03I think it's crazy to say that a team in a major conference will never win a BCS game.
10 years ago would you have honestly thought that Boise State, Utah, or TCU would be this competitive with the elite teams in the country and winning BCS games?
Never say never.
And I'm glad that the ND Haters still enjoy getting their shots in. Get 'em in while you can boys. -

I think the problem for teams in conferences is that the teams at the top generally dominate in recruiting which hurts the teams at the bottom.sherm03;669490 wrote:I think it's crazy to say that a team in a major conference will never win a BCS game.

In the Big 10 I agree that Indiana and Minnesota will not ever win a BCS game. They will never make it through Ohio State, Penn State, Iowa, Wisconsin and now Nebraska in one season. And I can say never, because by the time those teams ever turn it around the BCS will probably be a thing of the past. -
ohiotiger33Easy. Duke. /thread

vball10setIf I had to pick a team in the Big Ten, it'd have to be Indiana--it's a basketball school first and foremost, and I think that the administration is too apathetic about football to give it the attention it needs to become a viable football power--JMO

WooballI agree it is hard to say never, but I think it is going to be awhile before these schools do it
BIG XII:
Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas St. (I know Kansas and Kansas St have been good in the recent past, but with the way Texas, OU, and OSU are going I expect them to dominate that conference and it will be hard for those schools to get an At-Large if they don't win the conference)
B1G:
Indiana - The rest of the B1G has history and the chance to bring in recruits. I'm not saying I see the other schools doing it soon, but the only one that would shock me is IU
ACC:
Duke, Wake Forest, Maryland, Virginia - I expect FSU and the U to get the ship righted and start to own this conference like they should be doing. Maryland and UVA have good areas to recruit, but don't seem to keep their best players. Until they do, I don't see them getting back to BCS bowl status.
SEC:
Vandy, Kentucky -
FatHobbitI definitely think Northwestern can make a BCS game.

They were saying this 20 years ago and there are still plenty of shots to go around. And I'm glad that the ND Haters still enjoy getting their shots in. Get 'em in while you can boys. -

In 2007 the baseball team won the SEC regular season and tournament title. -
gyea36If Stanford can win a bcs game, I think anyone can. All they needed was one great player within a solid coach's system...I think any bcs conference team has the chance to accomplish that formula.

Agreed. People forget that Northwestern post-1994 or so is significantly improved and competitive in the Big 10. They haven't finished at the bottom of the Big 10 since 2002.FatHobbit;669807 wrote:I definitely think Northwestern can make a BCS game.
