wildcats20I actually thinking he is talking about the "ESPN hyping the SEC" comment earlier.
No one said they were overrated, only ESPN blows them at every chance they get. -
reclegend22Oh, ok. I wasn't really involved in that conversation so I guess I misinterpreted what athlete meant.
After watching the end of the Georgia Tech vs. Miami "encounter" tonight, I probably shouldn't be issuing proclamations about other conferences. That was not a basketball game; that was a poorly performed fuel mart robbery. Everyone just forgot their weapons and to actually go to a fuel mart. I don't even care how that sounds. Those two hours were filled only with embarrassment.
Miami, losers of four-in-a-row heading into the encounter, ended with 28 turnovers and nearly completely blew the 21-point lead it owned with 13 minutes remaining, letting Georgia Tech get back to within one point with under a minute to play. Mind you, Miami did this by only making two field goals over the last 13 and 1/2 minutes of play against a Georgia Tech defense that has helped accumulate a 10-11 overall record (3-5 ACC). That's faaantastic. -
athlete37I was referring to football, because I thought someone was complaining the SEC is overrated. They've won the last 5 NC's. I feel like the Big East is comparable in bball in terms of depth. The Big East is not overrated

No one said they were overrated, just pumped up by ESPN. I hate the SEC, but in football they deserve ALL the attention they get(positive AND negative). So I don't really have a problem with it. -

Conferences don't win National Championships, teams do. I'd love to see these SEC schools do what they are doing if they had to play by the same ethic as any real college does.
The Big East is top heavy, half their teams are garbage who get beat up on by the big boys of the conference. Going by your ridiculous criteria of winning NC's = great conference, the Big East has won 2 championships this past decade. The ACC has won 5 championships.
Again this is using your criteria, so the ACC > Big East
Owned and ruined. -

One of the teams that are tied for 8th place in the conference is also ranked 6th in the nation...
10th place team beat Duke just a week ago...
11th place team beat WVA, Syracuse and Notre Dame.
12th place team has wins over Syracuse and Alabama(leader of the SEC West...weak division I know, but still 9 games over .500)
13th place team has wins over Louisville, Villanova and Alabama.
Yep, top heavy indeed. -
sleeperSo they beat up on each other and have some good non-conference wins? Welcome to every conference in America.

But I thought half of their teams were garbage and got beat up by the big boys of the conference? Which 8 teams are garbage? -

BTW, these "bubble teams" are very liberal. However, it's so wide open and there are three extra spots, so it's worth a mention. -
sleepersportswizuhrd;665571 wrote:But I thought half of their teams were garbage and got beat up by the big boys of the conference? Which 8 teams are garbage?
Depaul
South Florida
Providence
Rutgers
Seton Hall
St. Johns
Marquette
West Virginia
Louisville is a flash in the pan, and Cinci has been largely unimpressive. Pittsburgh and UConn are legitimately the only teams that will make the sweet 16 -
sleeperBy comparison half the Big Ten is garbage too. Like I said, just like every other conference in America, they just happen to have a few more teams.
-
september63Cleveland State might have killed their chances today. As of today, I dont think Butler deserves to be in either.
-
CinciX12I don't want to create a separate thread for this, but I cannot fathom watching another Atlantic 10 basketball game. It is literally the most painful thing I have gone through in my entire life. Today I had to wake up at 10 am to go and watch a St. Louis team that is so pathetic I think Jesus cries whenever they step on the court. We lost to Charlotte the other day and nearly lost again today because I am pretty certain that the team has taken my attitude on the subject. And that is that this conference is pathetic. Winning it is no more than bragging about being the most intelligent person with an IQ below 50. We are the only team who has had remote NCAA success in the last 15 years. I cannot do this anymore. I'm losing my mind.
How do you get excited to play against total shit day in and day out? Because I can't even get excited to drink and go to the games anymore. -
Azubuike24UTEP and Missouri State hang on for wins.
UNLV gets smoked in Provo and Memphis outlasted Gonzaga in Spokane.
Alabama has been impressive and have a lead in Knoxville while Cincinnati trails big early and Dayton leads early. -
Azubuike24Alabama wins at Tennessee. They are starting to run away in the SEC at 7-1.
-
gerb131Who woulda thunk the Tide. Coach Grant deserves some coach of the year pub fo sho.
-
CinciX12Cincinnati is paaaaaaathetic tonight. They don't deserve the NIT if this is how they are going to play without Gates. Who was suspended randomly and Mick didn't disclose why. So this could be an official the wheels are off the train game.
-
Midstate01CinciX, what's up with Dante Jackson?? He looks so uncomfortable out there. I've watched him play since he was a freshman at greenfield mcclain and I've never seen him look so shaky. Did he have an injury I missed or something?
-

He can't shoot anymore. No idea what caused it. But most games he couldn't shoot the ball into the ocean. -

So weird.
