Right and wrong? According to whom? The NCAA? Laughable! If you don't get caught, it's not wrong. Fuck the NCAA, it is not against the laws of the US; just a collaboration of a bunch of assholes that don't even crown a national champion in the sport.
This isn't a crime, so why should one feel guilt if they know with 100% certainty they won't get caught? -

When one has to factor in the chances of getting caught, whether it's a moral and/or ethical issue is pretty clear. -
Con_AlmaNo chance.

Can you not read the first post? No chance of them finding out. -

Right. Hypothetically there is no chance of getting caught. Some of these posts crack me up. -

My post was in response to dwccrew's post and has everything to do with getting caught, and little or nothing to do with the original post. Threads tend to change direction over time. Try to keep up. -

Right, I wouldn't accept money if there was a chance (so in reality I wouldn't accept money). But I was answering the original question. If there was NO chance, than of course I would and I wouldn't feel guilty because it is not illegal. -
Big GainIt's all about impatience and lack of self-esteem. $50,000 is pocket change compared to the money they will make as a 1st round draft pick in a couple of years. Hell, $50K is pocket change to MANY successsful people in many careers. Now, $50 K is a lot of money to a garbage collector, what most of those taking the money would end up being if not for their God given abilites. Why prostitute yourself by taking chump change from a pimp when you're 18, instead of being a man and wait 3 years to be a multi-millionaire??

Lack of self-esteem? I don't think so. It's more about what you want now, so I do agree that it has to do with impatience. But as the OP asks, if you would never get caught with 100% certainty, why not take it? A professional contract is never a guarantee until after your college career is over and you have proved yourself. If your services are in demand, why not take from the highest bidder if you hypothetically wouldn't get caught and you knew this? It's not illegal.
Of course realistically speaking, you don't know if you will get caught or not, so I say don't take the money in reality, but for the hypothetical, of course take it. JMO -

you just aren't right in what you just said there -
Con_AlmaWeakness is why someone would accept the money.

ytownfootballThis is how I look at it. If someone offered you the money, then someone will always know about it. Someone will always know that you compromised your integrity. You didn't "find" the 50k anonymously, it came with knowledge already attached.
I'll pass. -

You honestly think $50,000 is chump change to an 18 year old? It may seem like much money to you, but these are kids with no bills or responsibilities. Do you have $50k just sitting around you could just go blow tomorrow and not worry about it?
