Illinois - Indiana @ Assembly Hall East

The Illini come to town tonight to take on the Hoosiers. This was, (along with Minny, Purdue and Wisky at home) one of the 4 games I thought IU could come away with 2 shock wins out of. Of course that was before our 7 footer was declared ineligible, Creek went down for the year and Jones III hurt his knee. But I still think IU has a decent chance tonight.

Plus, Gus Jonson is on the call, so we all know itll be a 1 possession game with under a minute to go!

even if it isnt... gus will make it sound like it .. haha (in my gus voice)
  • Laley23
Gus was amazing...though I wasnt paying him any attention the last 10 minutes. What a game (though poorly played by both teams at times).

I love Jordy Hulls, and Jeremiah Rivers was amazing on McCamey tonight. Not as good as Craft, but as good as Ive seen other than Craft on McCamey this year!

    Hoosiers win.

That is a huge win for the program and Crean IMO.

I dont want to overstate this, but it literally could be program changing. HUGE recruits in the Hall tonight, including a guy that Matta and Crean are going head-to-head with in Jeremy Hollowell!

Maybe the biggest win since Crean has been in town?

I can't think of a bigger one, but then again I don't follow the Hoosiers like you do lol

They beat PITT when they were ranked around #10 last year (in NYC), before they were top 15...but probably the best team he has beaten. Them or Cornell 2 years ago, before everyone knew how good they were (I was on the radio call for that game!). But biggest home win, and yes first win versus a ranked team...but at the end of the year, Pitt last year will be better than Ill this year, if that makes sense.

Solid win by Indiana, once again proving how tough the B1G is. I'm not so sure if I'd call it a defining win, but definitely a solid one. One that shows Indiana is on the right track perhaps.

DMac should start practicing his Spanish or Turkish.

Weber's seat is going to start to get really warm if he finds himself out of the NCAA tourney again this year...

As my father pretty accurately said about a week ago. If your a senior basketball player in this day and age, its cause you arent good enough to go to the NBA.

I take it back. Jeremiah Rivers was every bit as good, if not better than Aaron Craft on McCamey tonight!

Yea, hard to tell if DMac is just in a terrible funk, or if he just ran into two PGs who have elevated their game.

My prediction for the next Illinois coach...Anthony Grant from Alabama.

As I have head it said and seen it written recently. "If you're a player in the Mid-West why would you want to go anywhere other than Ohio State?

McCamey is a sulker and he's in a major funk right now. You can see it on his face. "I'm F' ing not getting drafted."

draftexpress.net and nbaft.net both have him going 32nd to the T-Wolves.(non guaranteed contract).

Yeah McCamey has absolutely disappeared these last few weeks. As good and as deep as the Illini are, it would appear that as McCamey goes, so go the Illini.

Well, I can't imagine that Ill people are too pleased with Weber. He has a pretty talented team. I used to think he was a pretty solid coach, lacked a bit in recruiting. Now I am starting to question how good of a coach he is.

you should have stuck with your first statement...IMO, Rivers was able to shut DMac down last night in part because of what Craft did to him Saturday--his confidence is shot!!!!

It might be true. But Jeremiah has shut down players all year. Even has played admirably when he has had to guard opponents post players...(only guy on IU who made consecutive stops on Sully, lol).

^^^ I agree, Rivers is a stud, and did an awesome job last night...btw, I loved his drop-off pass assist in the lane as he was driving the baseline (I believe it was to the freshman post?)--Gus loved it too!!!!

Yeah, it was to Will Sheehey, a FR (though he is more of a 3/Wing. That was a dirty no look. Its sad that our most athletic players are Sheehey and Oladipo (another FR). Sigh.

I'm guessing Jeremiah Rivers is such a good defender because he had to guard his younger bro growing up lol... Not to mention his father.

I read those weeks ago, he has not played well of late.

Gotcha. Where was he projected weeks ago? Those projections I gave were going into the IU game.

Or cause he has no jumper. His only hope of ever playing big time bball was to be a stout defender.
