Where does Rich Rodriguez end up?
-
thedynasty1998I couldn't agree with you more. But people are so quick to think Rich Rod will land on his feet, yet, Leach is still looking for a job.
-
ohiotiger33It is weird, I agree. Leach must be the worst interview in sports, or maybe he is just waiting for his legal stuff to be done to seriously pursue jobs and visa versa.
-
mucalum49I was going to argue for RichRod over Mike Leach becasue I think Leach was only successful because of Graham Harrell and Crabtree but then again I believe that RichRod made his rep off of Slaton and Pat White. Lots of similarities between these two coaches.

ohiotiger33You have to look at Leach before his one big season at TT. His offenses have ALWAYS produced. What he did at Kentucky and Oklahoma is unreal.

krambmanRichRod definitely has baggage. He publicly accepted the Alabama job, then changed his mind the next day. He left his alma matter the very next year for Michigan and refused to pay they buyout even though WVU had done everything he asked when they gave him a new contract, so Michigan payed WVU the $2.5 million buyout. Hey then did nothing to learn and appreciate the history of one of the most storied programs in the country and completely alienated the alumni base and did little to bring them back on board. He then had current and former players out him for breaking NCAA rules for which he was then punished for. These are all reasons why programs might be just as weary of hiring him as they should be of hiring Leach.

Agree that he has baggage. It is going to be tough for him to get any job other than a down and out program that hopes his type of offense will sell some tickets and win a few more games than they're used to.
But, I'm not sure your facts are facts regarding the WVU situation. I don't ever remember a public acceptance of the Alabama job. It was being widely reported, but he never said it, as far as I remember. Also, he didn't get everything that was promised to him from WVU. You can argue that they weren't given enough time to produce some of the things (the stadium renovations happened within a year after he left), but at the time he left, he hadn't been provided everything that was agreed on. There were bad characters on both sides of that mess.
Now, since then he hasn't done anything to make anyone believe in him and Michigan was a colossal failure so even if the perception is slightly off about his departure from WVU, the damage is done and probably irreparable for him.
