BCS National Championship Game: Auburn vs. Oregon

  • Terry_Tate
I looked at TPs stats from last year and Cams today, and it is almost eerie how similar they are.

    TP - 23/37, 266 yards, 2 TDs, 1 Int, 20 carries for 74 yards

    Cam - 20/34, 265 yards, 2 TDs, 1 Int, 22 carries for 65 yards

    Ad Nike will run tomorrow.

I don't know if it was just me or what, but this game was sloppy and boring. It didn't look like two elite teams out there. So many turnovers, incomplete passes, missed assignments, poor blocking, etc.

Very dissappointing title game. The only thing that made it exciting was the fact that it came down to a game winning FG. But overall, poor performances IMO.

Agreed, I think the BCS #3-#6 would have given either of these two a run for their money

I completely disagree that this was a disappointing game.

455 and 520 yards for the teams, close game, explosive athletes and quick tempo makes for an overall entertaining game

Ytown a little angry I see lol

Glad Aubby got the win but not the high scoring affair I expected.

Neither team looked good last night and it was a boring game IMO. I think there were a handful of teams that would of beaten both of them tonight based on how they played in their bowl games. I think Bama, LSU, OSU would of beaten both of these teams by 10+ points if they got a chance to play them last night. Not the game I thought it would be.

Was it me or did it seem like no one could keep their footing last night. What's up with the grass?

This could have been the most boring last second win I've ever seen. Chip Kelly is a fun coach to watch, as long as he's not coaching your team. The guy makes some very questionable decisions.
  • vball10set
put a sweater vest on Kelly last night, and you'd think that was JT calling plays for Oregon in the red zone....55 minutes of boring football, followed by 5 minutes of craziness--can't wait for fall, baby!!!

It was a fun second half to watch. The only reason the game disappointed is that we all thought We were tuning into a track meet, and it didn't live up to that hype.

Its good that Auburn won that way both of them can claim to be National Champs when Auburn has to give it away in 2013.

^^^ If we are talking about 'claims'...Don't forget TCU.

Don't think it was a boring game, but it certainly wasn't anything great. This is often what you get when you don't play for ever a freaking month. Tough on the offenses and gives defenses plenty of time to prepare.

They put it in a week ago (On the 3rd or 4th I think). They literally tore everything out and put something brand new in. IMO It was a bad idea because it wasn't able to settle. If need be, I would have repaired what was already there.

I remember some people complaining about this during the 06 Michigan/OSU game. A lot of people were complaining about the new sod at the Shoe, which lead to the Sports Turf they have today I believe.

It was a sloppy game. It tightened up a bit in the second quarter, but between the fumbles/interceptions and the constant loss of traction by anybody, this was a surprising dull final possession game. It had moments, but was nothing noteworthy. And the fact the winning points were scored due to that botched tackle on the running play just solidified this as a game not really worth remembering. Which is surprising.

Seeing Auburn win though was anticlimactic. I still think the NCAA strips them of the title if more Cam Newton garbage comes up. The part I keep failing to understand is that Miss State recruiters claimed that Cam Newton called them upset that he couldn't go to Miss State and was going to Auburn because "the money was just too good". So, either the NCAA is saying Miss State is lying, or Cam Newton retracted what he said. To claim he doesn't know about Cecil's monetary arrangements seems flaky at best. So, they will probably have their title taken away and this game will be for naught.

Also, TCU could've played with either of these schools. Hell, several schools could've played with either of these schools last night.

Buckeye fans are really going to miss TP when he is gone. What I saw last night from Cam was a QB that has the same skill set at Pryor. I actually thought that TP had a better bowl game the past two years then Cam.

Is it just me, or is there a general feeling of 'nobody except Auburn and Oregon gives a crap' about the outcome of the game? I know the ratings were huge but I just get that feeling for some reason. I work with a couple guys who do nothing but talk about football and they didn't really say anything at all about the game or either team. I just feel that everyone is really apathetic about this game.

I have heard many people say that Auburn better enjoy it while it lasts because they won't have it for long. I think that fact alone (even if they don't end up losing it) may have put a damper on this year's championship game for everyone except Auburn and Oregon fans.

I don't think this will happen, even if Auburn is stripped of their title.

More than likely, there will be no champion crowned for this season. I still doubt that the BCS takes it away from Auburn to begin with, though, so it's a moot point.

Yea, it was 2 schools w/ relatively small fan bases in the grand scheme of college football. I think alot of people tuned in to see a "track meet", and really didn't care who won.

I suspect there would be a lot more talk had Oregon pulled off the win.
