Will Miles stay at LSU? And if he goes, who will replace him?
-
thedynasty1998The thing with Miles is that he would be beloved at Michigan from day 1 and I think fans would give him a couple years to get things on the right track. Plus, he can get out of the SEC, which is just far more competitive. Losing 4 games in the SEC is quite comparable to losing 2 in the Big 10, to be honest. The guy can certainly recruit and always has a great defense.
I'm assuming that Michigan desperately wants him, but I just don't know how comfortable he is in Louisiana. -

mallymal614Miles is the closest thing to a "Michigan Man" that there is.

WriterbuckeyeI don't know how well he'll continue to recruit without actually being in the South AND having the freedom to over-sign like his SEC brethren now do. Those two things are directly related to the conference strength of the SEC right now.
He won't be able to convince a lot of those great players from Southern states to play up North, and he won't have the luxury of simply cutting loose kids he doesn't think are good enough if he doesn't have scholarship room for someone better.
Is he a better fit at UM than Richrod was? Oh of course.
However, there is a faction in the UM power base that apparently doesn't like him because of some alleged shenanigans that went on between him and a head coach's wife years ago when he was on the football staff. It's only a rumor, but it's a strong one, and there are UM people who believe he'll never be hired because of that or, if he is hired, his work will be sabotaged from within by these same folks since they carry a grudge. -
SportsAndLadyESPN reported this during the national championship game just to improve ratings and stir up some talk during that boring ass first quarter. I said it right when it was announced that Miles will stay at LSU. I'm sticking by that.

I don't believe that at all. If he had done something like this, I truly doubt that Michigan would have been slobbering all over him for the past week. If that rumor is true, it tells you how much power "those follks" actually have. Michigan wanted him, it wasn't the other way around. -

I'm surprised he didn't try to get more money out of the deal. -

It wasn't even hard to figure out. This is exactly what happened in 2007. Kurt Herbstreit broke the news and LSU got to miles before an announcement was made, Offering a new contract $$$ and told him take it or leave. Good for him. -
SportsAndLadyI also found it hilarious they announced the "Miles will accept UM coaching gig if UM offers" news during the national championship game.
