Jim Harbaugh

This Harbaugh thing is turning into a bigger fiasco than the Michigan coaching search.

Hes either staying at Stanford or going to the 49ers...leaning towards Stanford he says

I agree. I hear hes demanding 7 mil a year?

Is this guy worth it? Peter King was on the Herd today talking about this. It would be stupid to pay a rookie coach that much money, 4-5 mil would be ok

Reports are saying he has agreed to a 5 year deal with 49ers.

49ers called press conference for this afternoon. Harbaugh to be introduced. Suspense over.
As a Notre Dame fan, I think that is a great decision.

    Agreed^^^

Good deal for him. 5 mil. a year and stay close to where he lives. Will he have success? The past college coaches experiences says no.

Should be important to note: Jed York is a Notre Dame alum. So not only did he weaken Stanford with this hire, but he also screwed Michigan over quite well. Well done.

Wonder if Stanford recruits go elsewhere and if Stanford falls off the map again in football.

Vaugnters GA LB will probably be going to Florida or Ohio State now.

Amir Carlisle, a great speed RB softly committed to Stanford, is going to end up at Notre Dame.

WOW Pizza Boy couldn't have fucked this up anymore with two midgets, a singing dog and a blind jazz band. Hail to the Losers!

Unfortunately I don't think pizza boy is the one that fucked it up.

Is it just me, or did he sound like a college coach in his presser today? If he treats the NFL like he did college, he's in for a rough time.

Yup, they'll still be in San Francisco

Sounds like 2 solid reason to give him more then jsut about anyone.

Yeah, I don't get how it always works this way. I realize sometimes you have to take chances on people, but for an NFL team to go all out on such an unproven commodity just baffles me. Of course, think about how many proven shitty coaches get rehired several times in the NFL.

To me, Harbaugh was one of the top two college guys who weren't in career places, so I expected any top college programs to go after him. The extent of the turnaround at Stanford is the amazing thing, though like a lot of guys who have pulled off one great season at a weak ass school have proven, staying at that level is much more difficult. Probably as good of a time as any for Harbaugh to make a move, following up this season with a couple mediocre ones could've made that ship sail.

I completely understand his attraction for Michigan. I don't get the NFL interest. The only college coach that had equal success in the NFL was Jimmy Johnson.Other college coaches, with a better track record than Harbaugh, have failed in the NFL.Steve Spurrier comes to mind.

Didn't Barry Switzer and Bill Walsh have success at both levels? You're right though, there isn't more than maybe 5 coaches that have had success at both levels. Two different mindsets for college and pro.
