Can someone please remember the Big Ten went 5-0...
-
lhslep134Against the line? Sure MSU and Michigan shit the bed, but the Big 10 was an underdog in every game they lost...
Maybe there was a reason for it. Maybe people need to remember conference records in bowl games are all about matchups.
The only result I'm shocked about is Wisco. Abandoning your bread and butter running? Stupid. BUT Brett Bielema is a freaking asshole and deserves to lose like that, and DESERVES to watch coach Patterson get "gatorade"d right in front of him.
The Big 10 sucked today, but it wasn't like they failed to live up to expectations. They succeeded to fulfill the expectation of losing all 5 games.
All in all, the only thing that matters is the Buckeyes winning Tuesday. Go Bucks! -
dat dudeAm i missing something? They definitely did not go 5-0 ATS.

Didn't say spread. Said line. I personally interpret that to mean money line, which is strict favorite and underdog without a spread. Capiche? -
dat dudeNo, I don't follow. For example, how did MSU win "against the line" or whatever your interpretation of it is?
-
Mulvalol. I don't give a fuck how Michigan State does in their bowl game, but that justification is awful. As if because a team wasn't favored to win the fact that they lost by 42 should be ignored and/or respected.
How the fuck would anyone follow that logic? -
j_crazyhow does one become so delusioned?
-
ts1227I was watching the games today, and by 2PM I knew the #1 excuse was going to be the matchups.
No one ever claims that it's favorable matchups when the Big Ten does well, but if they drop a gargantuan shit in the bed, obviously that is the problem. -
NNNMost people seem to forget that point spreads have nothing to do with which the better team is and everything to do with perceptions in order to split the money wagered evenly on both sides.
Or we can talk matchups.....
SEC #6 (Florida) 37, Big Ten #5 (Penn State) 24
SEC #5 (Alabama) 49, Big Ten #1 (Michigan State) 7
SEC #7 (Mississippi State) 52, Big Ten #7 (Michigan) 14 -
dwccrewHahahaha, this HAS to be THE dumbest thread ever. Do you know anything about sports betting? The Big Ten didn't go 5-0 against the line or even on the money line? Just because they were the underdog in almost every game and lost those games doesn't make them 5-0. What is your logic or reasoning on that? So if they would have won all 5 games they would have been 0-5? Get a clue!

georgemc80The only things I thought going in to the bowl season was that MSU was a paper lion and would get destroyed and that Michigan didn't deserve the Gator Bowl. Iowa should have been there putting Michigan against Mizzou. I think Iowa plays better against Miss St. and UM beats Mizzou.
So the matchups were off at the respect. I still don't know how UM got that bowl game. -
centralbucksfanI never really expected MSU, Mich or NW(without top QB) to win. But I thought PSU and Wisky had good chances. Both blew it. No excuses, the Big Ten laid a big giant egg yesterday. And I honeslty don't have much confidence in OSU winning with all the issues they have had to deal with.

Prescott
I agree. MSU escaped ND with a fake field goal and won a couple of games they were just destined to win. I knew Alabama would dominate the Spartans. I'm not sure Michigan belonged in any bowl game. The only things I thought going in to the bowl season was that MSU was a paper lion and would get destroyed and that Michigan didn't deserve the Gator Bowl. Yes. If they would have won all 5 games they would have been 0-5 against the money line. What is so hard to comprehend? I'm not spinning anything, the Big 10 played like shit. But if you were to bet the money line, that is, bet against the Big 10 because all 5 Big 10 teams were underdogs, you would have been 5-0, hence the Big 10 lived up exactly to their billing, betting wise at least, losing all 5 games.
Why is it so hard for you or anyone with half a brain to comprehend?
Let me re-iterate. The. Big. 10. Played. Like. Shit. But. They. Lost. Every. Game. They. Were. Supposed. To.
Does that mean I'm happy about it? Hell no. -
BigAppleBuckeyeThe bigger -- and sadder -- question remains: has the Big 10 fallen SO low that they were underdogs in all five games yesterday, including our Top 5 conference champ against a Cinderella? Obviously, yes.
What a frustrating afternoon of football, holy shit. McGloin gift wraps Florida a win, and Wisky misses a FG, which proves to be the difference. No comment even necessary for the two horrible Michigan schools. -

.
Yes! It's pathetic, I agree. I just think people need to keep in perspective that they were underdogs. I'm not trying to defend the poor poor play of our conference brethren. -
karen lotzWho gives a fuck if they were 3 point underdogs? No underdog has ever won a game? You are making excuses/spinning it whether you think so or not.

Of course they have, I'm not insinuating they haven't. But if the underdog won everytime there wouldn't be betting.
How am I making excuses, pray tell? -

Not an excuse, it was a fact. Obviously, when your the underdog, your not considered the best team. More times then not, the best team is going to win. Wouldn't you agree with that? Now, out of all the game, I figured the Big Ten would win a couple of those. So yes, as most of us have admitted, the Big Ten laid an egg, no question, no excuse. But again, in most of those games...they were MATCHED vs better teams. Two of those games could have gone either way...QB for PSU with a bad INT late while driving. And Wisky with a batted down pass for a tie. NW hung in the game without their all big ten QB. So they competed very well in the 3 games. And the two blowouts...many thought would be blowouts.
And again, OSU is yet to play. Big Ten could end 3-5 in bowl games. Not good, but not terrible. Although I am not hopeful OSU will win. -
karen lotzBy saying they were supposed to lose because they were underdogs. How many on this board predicted an 0-5 day for the Big Ten yesterday?
-
KR1245Big 10 had a shitty day. Big deal. The Big ten has been terrible in bowl games since the BCS era began. It has stopeed Ohio State from being one of the most dominant programs in the country over that time. I think people put way too much thought into this conference bowl record nonsense. Who cares. I hate most of the Big 10, I'm glad to see those teams lose. As long as the Buckeyes win I'm happy.
-
EnforcerI Honestly thought the Big10 would go 2-3 yesterday, Wisky and Penn St. being those Wins.
