  Lots of questions about rule changes in today's mailbag, but first a note a question on the future of Urban Meyer.

  My hunch is he might be the guy whenever Jim Tressel decides to step down at Ohio State, given that he is an Ohio guy and it is a very big job. To me, OSU seems a little more viable than some other potential openings. I couldn't see him coming back in a year or two to take over at Georgia, even though the Bulldogs new AD came from UF. I wouldn't think taking a job at one of UF's archrivals would feel right to him.
  
  I doubt Notre Dame would be an option, either, but part of my thought process on that is because I suspect Brian Kelly will be entrenched there for quite a while.
  
  Would Meyer potentially trade off with Mack Brown after a year or two in the broadcast booth? I think it'd be tempting, given all that UT has to offer. But that job, as much as any, with the possible exception of Notre Dame, requires you to do more external work than probably any other. Given Meyer's final two seasons at UF, I'd doubt he'd want to undertake that.

  There is NO SUBSTANCE to this story. That being said, it wouldn't surprise me at all. He is VERY close to Earl Bruce. Coached at BG. So he has an idea about Ohio State. If he does come to OSU...I honestly wouldn't want to see that offense he runs. I think defenses have caught up with it. Unless you have someone exceptional to run it(Tebow)...I think we saw this year what could happen offensively.

  Don't the two teams playing in the National Championship run that offense? Defenses have not caught up to it.

  I know, LOL. I love when people try and belittle "gimmick" offenses. The spread option is here to stay in college football. It isn't 1997 anymore.

  ehh he wins. I have never been much of a fan of his, but I'd certainly enjoy the success he has been having at Florida.

  No shit sherlock. But like anything else, there are different versions of it. What I saw with Florida this year, that in NO way lacked talent, was ugly. And even though they won today, it wasn't pretty.
  The rotating QB's, and trying to fit a drop back QB in that offense was FAR from genius.
  
  The guy is obviously a VERY good head coach. But still some reservations.

  Meyer was an assistant coach for 2 years at Ohio State under Earl Bruce.

  Meyer has been uber successful width his offense everywhere he has went and now all of a sudden after one bad year.

  The biggest reason Myer is not coaching anymore is his health from everything I have heard. So I don't see him coaching again for a long time or ever again.

  the timing of Meyer's resignation and how long Coach Tressel was going to remain at TOSU was discussed amongst my family at Christmas--this scenario seems to be setting up almost perfectly

  I would struggle to offer this position to one who may decide after one year, that his health was an "issue" again.
