karen lotzroughly 24 hours late on this one. not too shabby.

Manhattan BuckeyeThe charges likely have legs. They upgraded the charge to a felony and he's been dismissed. Perhaps there is physical evidence present.

jordo212000Man what a moron. Finally gets a BCS conference job and it is gone a few weeks later.
Who do they replace him with, Ty Willingham? -
Little DannyThe Pitt folks want Tom Bradley, Todd Graham or Mike Leach. There are others who are are pulling for them to re-hire Dave W. I think Leach is too much of a loose cannon (particularly after hiring an alleged domestic batterer), Bradley is a long shot and re-hiring Wannstadt would just plain look bad. Maybe Graham is the guy.

jordo212000I think Tom Bradley would be a nice hire. Should have got him to begin with

DthaneHow long was the Oleary tenure at ND?
What about the rest of what they have assembled? Wanny isn't a bad guy, he is just not a good game coach. Repeat- NOT. Ask any Bear, Dolphin or Pitt fan. When the heat is on...Wanny doesn't seem to thrive. Keep him on in the Athletic Dept as he can help with talent evaluation, communication with area coaches, golf outings, whatever.
So what direction now? A DII coach that is highly successful? Rich Rod should be a consideration, as he has shown that he can win in the Big East. Do you go with a coordinator and who? Personally I'd prefer someone with successful head coaching experience. How about someone who has done well with little and won a bowl game this year? They don't have to have a great 5 year record, but should have steadily improved over the last 5 years. -
darbypitcher22Leach will probably be hired by Maryland.
-
Ironman92his best friends are Tom Cable and Brett Myers

darbypitcher22^^^
It would be very interesting, but I think its going to take a lot to do that. There must be some pretty decent evidence to upgrade the charges to felony -
LJI think Rich Rod is the logical choice. He has shown that he can win in the BE, plus it would royally piss WVU fans off even more, which Pitt would love

Apparently you have no idea how the legal system works. When you are accused of a crime the police investigate (in this instance they would interview the woman and look for physical harm consistent with the accusation and collect physical evidence) and if they determine a crime likely committed the person is arrested and put in jail. Then a judge sets bail based on the crime allegedly committed and if they make bail they are released. He was jailed because they had evidence, presented it to a judge, and got a warrant for his arrest (or if he was there when they showed up because they determined he likely committed a crime). It has nothing to do with innocent until proven guilty.
Now, with Haywood out at Pitt, since The Stache is still on staff with the athletic department, is there any chance he's back on the sidelines there next season if they can't find someone else they like? -
rock_knutneTom Bradley actually approached Pitt about the HC job and they never returmed his calls. pitt would be stupid not to pursue Bradley this time around IMO.

vball10setI'll bet the Miami AD breathed a sigh of relief that this didn't happen a month ago--just sayin'

JoePa was supposedly pimping Tom Bradley during his post game presser last night -
Dthane....because Marvin has such good control of his players given the Bengals spotless reputation....oh...wait a minute....nevermind....
I suppose Pitt could do worse than Marvin, but is he ready to hit the recruiting trail? Might be a step down and then he would be interviewed for every HC job in the NFL. Not sure this is the route they want to go in the Burg. -
Little DannyThis year's recruiting class is shot for the Panthers. They've had about 10 recruits or so decommit after they sacked the Stache and they aren't coming back. If Marvin's the guy, his NFL ties will give him a leg up in recruiting next year in Pittsburgh just like it did for Wanny. Plus, Marvin is from Pittsburgh. Seems like a very logical fit for me.
