Rumor Of Tressel Leaving Ohio State After Sugar Bowl???

Big GainWebFire;613282 wrote:Isn't next year the last year that Tressel claimed he would coach anyway?
No, this is the year Tressel had his contract reworked to run to his 62nd birthday. -

This is Ohio State we're talking about, not OU. You just don't hire somebody with no sort of resume to go off of. The Ohio State job pretty much has a pre-req of being successful elsewhere as a head coach.
I would have a major problem if they hired Speils as/is. (No coaching/head coaching experience at the college level).
Love Spielman. But This!! -

We all love Chris Spielman. Head Coach? NEVER!! -
jhay785 guys selling stuff, getting suspended, and making the program look bad: no big deal.
JT leaving: begin to panic. -

I do to but I was kinda being sarcastic. I wish Chris would have gone up the ranks so to speak...I think he could have been a tremendous leader. -
LJDirector of Athletic Communications has said that the report is work of some prankster.
Blogger has turned off commenting on the blog -

Well played.

To the best of my knowledge he never said anything like that, although he has said several times that he doesn't plan on coaching forever. He's never said for sure when he's retiring, but most assume after this most recent contract extension that we will retire when the contract is up. -
athlete37Crap, wish this had started during the semester. The Civil Procedure prof I had is in constant communication with Gene Smith. GS has called him several times in class...

I'll bet many UM fans are hoping this were the case. -
Trueblue23I just can't see this happening.
Only way it's possibly true is if OSU has BIG problems that we don't know about yet, ala USC... but still, Tress is probably the classiest coach in the nation, I don't see him jumping off a sinking ship like Pete Carrol did. -
BlanketI just got home and had a text from a friend about this and among the things it said was that recruits have been told he is leaving and can look at other schools.
I dont believe there is anything to this, but this would be a major shocker if it would happen. -

I don't think Spielman has coached any team beyond Pop Warner..if he has any aspirations of being the big dog at OSU (which I highly doubt he does), he better get his resume out to colleges pretty darn quick and get some coaching experience at this level. That being said, I'd love to see Coach Tressel stay another year or two, which is just about enough time for Urban Meyer's competitive juices to get flowing again--then who knows?? -

who's your friend, and what position that is relevant to OSU football does he hold that would enable him to text you a message containing this information? -

I duno, but I received the exact same text from two of my friends as well. -

It says that in the original article about Tressel leaving. -
se-alumAgain...not true!! Gene Smith via Twitter:
Merry Xmas everyone!! Go back to drinking your eggnog!! Rumors not true.. First NBA game I watched this year!! -

Recruits can look at other schools anyways. They are only bound when they sign their LOI, which doesn't happen until Feb -
bases_loadedGuys isn't it obvious? Tress is gone, Urb is coming. Shazier decommits from UF and rumors of Ju'Juan Story following him. You heard it here first...I need to start a twitter account so I get credit for all of this...

georgemc80Only thing I ever heard about JT calling a career, was when he deflected questions about the Tennessee game in 2017 (?) by saying that some other coach will be dealing with that.
-
devil1197Highly unlikely that Tressel would suddenly leave the program. He is one of very few coaches that have too much respect and dignity to just bail out of nowhere.
When we start hearing rumblings from Gene Smith and others then I'll be worried, not some blogger.
If he does leave, I'd be willing to bet that we would be able to land a high profile guy. -
