Kanter Coming back to Kentucky?

  • cats gone wild
This article says even if he sits out a year, he will not declare and will come back for one season at UK. With the scary class UK has coming in..........wowsa!

It is obvious he wants to be a top 5 pick in the draft. How big is that dude? DeCourcy is one of the most credible sports reporters and a great guy (I've emailed him often) - shame that the Sporting News hasn't had the financial success to support their investigative journalism. Back in the day Sporting News destroyed SI as far as real sports news. Just didn't have as much flash (or the swimsuit issue).

Is the NCAA considering a one-year suspension? I thought their ruling, that he received money to play and was thus a professional, meant he was ineligible permanently. I assumed it was all or nothing, not that he lost a year.

I believe that once you take money you lose your amateur status, not for one year, but for good.

This is correct. Right now, as it stands, Kanter is permanently ineligible . UK is in the process of appealing the ruling. If it is turned away again, Kanter has NO choice but to enter the draf

As for UK next year...Jones and Knight will be gone. New ones will replace them. The norm at UK.

I'd be shocked if he stays permanently ineligible. As for Knight being going, I'm not quite sure about that. Even if he and Jones go though...

    PG Teague
    SG Lamb
    SF Gilchrist
    PF Miller
    C Kanter

Liggins, Vargas, Wiltjer, Hood, Davis, Poole...freaking scary. If Knight stays...my goodness.

You said you would be shocked if he were ever ineligible. Don't let your love for UK get in the way of reality. Same with guys staying at UK. ;) And with the way the NCAA is hammering colleges lately...I wouldn't get your hopes up.

After the OSU issue...this is no surprise at all. NCAA is not messing around lately. Seem to be sending a message.

Can he sign with an NBA team? Cavs should have already called him.

Seeing that he's now permanently ineligible, I'd say that my "shocked" level is probably a 1 or 2 out of 10. Your amateur status is not something that you can get back once you lose it. Not sure why anyone should be shocked by this. Although it appears some on here with the UK/Calipari blinders on will be incredibly "shocked."

I'm not surprised either. I do think that they'd be a top 5 team with him, but as it stands it's not as if they're an easy out in the tournament.

No. He has to enter the draft this spring.
