  I have absolutly NO RESPECT for Jimmy boy Foster and his team. I'm sad they didn't lose by 60. Ole' Jimmy boy passed on Lauren Prochaska. Could have used her outside shooting today and the last 3 plus years.

  You might not like the messenger of saying OSU will lose in the first round (his act is VERY tiring), but history has shown that Foster has definitely underachieved in the NCAA Tournament.

  Foster is this big, black hole in the OSU athletic department.
  
  He has taken one of the best jobs in the country, situated in a prime recruiting area for top talent, and underachieved at an alarming level.
  
  But God forbid anyone in the AD have the balls to say we can actually do better.
  
  Things won't be changing until Foster decides to retire, and only the Lord knows when that happy day might come.
  
  When it does, I hope the university takes filling that job seriously, because the right coach could easily make OSU a perennial power in women's basketball, and make the sport a revenue producer, instead of one that loses money every year.

  That was probably an affirmative action decision. Can't have a man coaching the women's team -- gotta have a woman. There was LOTS of grumbling when Foster was hired because of his gender.

  In the eight full seasons that Jim Foster has been at Ohio State, the Buckeyes have made it to the Sweet 16 just twice. Their record over that time is 212-52.

  I don't have the numbers in front of me and I'm not sure where I could get them, but the people I talk to in X's AD lead me to believe that it would be an extremely rare thing to actually turn a profit on women's basketball. The only teams with good attendance seem to be UConn and UT.

  I don't think Prochaska was quite the 3 point shooter in high school that she is now. She played under the basket a lot. I thought she was an amazing player, but she was soooo skinny.

  It would be extremely rare. UConn and Tennessee are the only two programs that turn a profit.

  FatHobbit..Oh yes she was a great 3 point shooter. She could score from anywhere. First team All Ohio as a freshman, sophomore, junior and senior. Ranks in the top 10 in all time scoring for women in Ohio HS history. Senior year led Jonathan Alder to a state championship title. Ohio HS player of the year in her division. MAC player of the year 2009-2010. Too skinny? Foster fucked up in not recruiting her. Plus, she was a "hometown" talent. And no she did not play under the basket, but still averaged in her HS career 11 rebounds per game. She played the point or off guard position her entire career at Alder. I only missed 4 of her games in HS. I guarantee half the town of Plain City would have followed her (sale of season tickets for OSU) if she had played there. Foster is a dumdass, plain and simple. They could have used her talent yesterday and many other times.

  I went to quite a few of her high school games and I've been to several of her games at BG as well. I remember her driving to the basket and getting to the free throw line at will in high school. I can't find stats, but I think it's a testament to the hard work she's put in that she is such a great shooter in college. (I admit that I could be wrong, but I swear she's much more of an outside shooter in college then she ever was, or needed to be, in college.)

  We went to 6 of her games at BG last year and quite a few the year before. Unfortunately none so far this year. Work has tied me down. I am originally from Plain City and we've known Dave, Sue, Lauren and her brothers for many many years. OSU could have used her scoring.

  I only saw her a couple of times in high school (Jon Alder was DIII and smacked teams from my area around in the early sectional rounds of the postseason a couple of times), but I don't think outside shooting was something she needed to do (at least in 30+ point wins). She ran the point and dominated inside while showing the ability to score from outside, but outside shooting was probably the least of her abilities she showed in those games. Probably the best high school girls' basketball player I've personally seen.

  After going to an OSU women's game earlier this year, and after seeing part of a UCONN game on TV I said to a friend that OSU is good, probably a legit top 15 team, but that UCONN is 30 points better than OSU. Sure enough, UCONN beat OSU by 31.

  This is correct. Tennessee/UConn probably can sell enough seats to maybe break even or turn a profit - all other programs have to give tickets away. There is practically no TV deal or other marketing opportunities for women's bball, even for Tennessee/UConn. Their programs travel just as much as the men's teams and incur the expenses, but can't bring in the revenue.
