he owns a beach house together with Jimbo Fischer from when they were at LSU together. A new chapter in our biggest non SEC rivalry. -
SpeedofsandMajor Applewhite as OC

No one here has any, welcome to the internet. -
Pick6I dont think this is a good hire..I mean it could end up being, but he has 0 head coaching experience. I would of atleast went after someone who is proven.
-
LJKind of underwhelmed.

Exactly, but speedofsand acts as if he has "sources", which over the course of this topic, has been proven wrong. -

You are correct! This guy spewed for several days though. He had "sources" and was telling us who the coach would be. -
SpeedofsandI was telling the reports of events as they unfolded. I never said 'done deal' until Muschamp. I have sources, just don't believe everything you read as gospel, like Foley saying he never talked to anyone else. Of course he's not gonna say 'he was 3rd choice' to the media. I just posted who was being mentioned, who was wanted, and who it was NOT going to be. Some were saying Foley called Chip Kelly because of the way he handled the Blount and Masoli problems, but he has Nike money. He was said to want Chizik, did you know Chizik played for the Gators ? Gruden, Mullen, Petrino, Harbaugh, Whittingham, Strong, Kerwin Bell, and on and on the list went on the internet. How many called it on Muschamp before 7:00 ?

september63LOL...................Ive never seen a person back peddle so fast. Nice Job Bud!!
-
jordo212000I like Muschamp, but at Florida I kind of feel like you always need to be hiring a current/previous head coach who has had success and plenty of experience.
I would have figured Mullen would have been a shoe-in though. Seemed like the perfect guy for the job. -

I'm extremely excited and happy about this hire....this has me excited for next season already
Heard he is bringing Major Applewhite and a few other coaches with him -
WriterbuckeyeSo what you're saying, Speed, is that the Florida AD called about 15 actual head coaches before he finally found an assistant coach who'd take the job.
Good to know. -
Ty WebbHe is also going to try and pry Kirby Smart away from Alabama...god I hope he can

John Brantley probably just sighed with relief. He was everybody's whipping boy for the past season. Addazio was bound and determined to put a square peg into the round hole. About half way through the season he finally figured out that Tebow wasn't walking through that door.
Florida will probably be more of a passing oriented spread with Applewhite calling the plays. -

The one major (no pun intended if Applewhite is the next OC) relief would be Addazio's being done with the play calling. He sucked before Tebow walked out the door, there was just too much talent for it to completely fall apart on him. -

no, he was rumored to have called 15 and interviewed 2. I see how you guys try to call me out but the only quotes are out of context and I proved myself right only to incorrectly be called wrong again (Petrino). Do you guys know how close Stoops was to being in Gainesville when Meyer resigned and came back last year ? -

yeah, Addazio was terrible. If Meyer would have keeled over due to a heart attack this past season, I'm pretty sure they could have arrested Addazio for murder. Their offense was/has been a mess. You could tell he was in waaaay over his head.
I guess Meyer was saying in his presser that the exodus of players to the NFL and his assistants leaving for greener pastures really took a toll on him -

thats funny but the Outback bowl ain't over yet. -
Tobias FünkeThis is a fine hire. Tiernan you're an idiot.
-
ytownfootballI would be cautiously optimistic. A good deal of his success will depend on how well his assistants perform.
I was wrong to think a bigger name would have gotten the nod. -
SpeedofsandI'm cautiously optimistic pending on the asst coaches coming on board.
-
lhslep134I'm decently okay with this.
I would have preferred Mullen or Pelini. -
Tobias FünkeI know Florida recruits nationally, but he will be able to recruit Texas better than anyone from the SEC. That alone is huge. If he's good enough for Texas to give him "coach-in-waiting" status in the event Mack Brown hits the hay, he's good enough for Florida.
Does it mean he's guaranteed success? Fuck no. It's college football. But it is nowhere near a "bad hire" like so many of you are saying.
