Is Sullinger the #1 Pick Right Now?

  I understand that its different in the NBA and big time college bball. But he easily could be a pick and pop big man this year IMO

  Honestly Hb, Bucks fans are picking him apart a little here as it's a question whether or not he should/could be the #1 draft selection, so it does seem a little harsh. But make no mistake, we're all glad to have him.

  Ready or not, most have him as a projected top 5 pick. Given what many say are his physical limitations (height, athletic ability), that is tough to pass up.

  He's more ready than BJ Mullins or Kosta Koufos. I know they are irrelevant, but it's not about if they are "ready". It's about if someone is willing to pay them.

  It's also about potential and measurements. Koufos showed potential because he was abig who could hit perimeter shots. Utah has a guy like that in Okur. I think they saw a lot of Okur in Koufos.
  
  Mullins measured well.He has length and athleticism. He also has a frame that can carry some weight. I wouldn't give up on Mullins yet. He is only 21 years old.

  I agree with Koufos comments. As far as giving up on Mullens..who was just sent to the developmental league yet again...unfortunately my money would be against him. HE does have potential..but I don't think he has it above the shoulders.

  The other issue with Sullinger coming out is that this is a weak year for talent. Thus one reason he is considered a top 5/10 pick. And again, its all about potential. As Dynasty said, he has big upside and still hasn't really filled out muscle wise. He is definately stronger, more filled out then he was a year ago. Another year or two in weight room and he is only going to get better.
  Again, I honestly don't think he will leave though. Two reasons...the lockout is more then likely and his dad his him pretty well grounded. Being a coach, his father has a clue what it takes and what his son needs. We'll see how it all plays out. Couldn't blame him a bit if he does go if a top 10 pick. Might be stupid to stay.

  The lockout will be the most determining factor. For one, I'm hoping it keeps a lot of guys in school for another year. This 2010 class was strong in-terms of overall talent, but I think the top, top tier talent isn't there like it was in 2009. There is no John Wall, or Derrick Favors, or DeMarcus Cousins. Anyone could go in the top 10 right now, and outside of MAYBE Kyrie Irving (who I don't think is in the Rose, Wall, Evans, Conley, Jennings) class yet, it's up in the air.

  I saw him play 9 times last year. Some on here keep saying he's 6'8". He's 6'9". An inch is an inch and I wonder on here how many of you have actually seen Satch (his dad). He's 6'8". I've known Satch, JJ and Jared ever since my son and Jared were ball boys for the team Ronnie Stokes had in the Worthington Summer Leagues. Some of you are forgetting this. Jared is still young. Satch told us last year after a HS game that, according to the doctor, Jared should grow to 6'11" to 7'0". NBA scouts and team owners obviously know this.

  I don't know about what doctors have said, but I could see him growin.g another inch or so. He still looks pretty young.
  
  As for his dad being influential in keeping him in Columbus, I don't know if I buy into that or not. If he's a top 5 pick, he has to go. And his dad knows that as well as anyone. His dad isn't pushing him to get his degree, he probably just wants to make sure he will be ready for it, which I think he will be.

  Been hearing about this growing for about 4yrs. Not sure he has grown all that much. Have heard Dr.'s say this about others as well, and it never happened. Its just a guess. And Satch isn't quite 6'8" either..he is more around 6'5". JJ was about 6'5".
  As for the degree...NBA or not, if you know Satch, I'll gaurantee he pushes his son to get his degree. Guys like Oden and Conley are coming back during the offseason to work on their degrees. Sullinger family is about education. He sat Jared out his Soph year in HS for a tourny game, which cost his team, because Jared wasn't doing what was needed in the classroom. Satch caught a lot of shit from that. But taught his son a lesson.

  I understand the importance of a degree, but a degree does absolutely nothing for Jared Sullinger. He's not going pre-med or finance, so who really cares?
  
  Just don't understand that argument that "Satch is all about education," when in reality, Satch is smart enough to know where Jared will be making his money. Jared will make millions of dollars playing basketball, whether he has a degree or not. Does he come back and take classes in the off season? Maybe he does. But who cares either way.
  
  As for sitting him a game, I don't think it had as much to do with valuing education as it did in not taking things for granted, or for not thinking you are bigger than the team. Satch will always be teaching Jared about discipline, hard work, dedication, being a good team mate, being a good man, being responsible. Those are the things he wants him to be educated in, but don't think he cares about whether Jared can pass a college economics course.

  Would he have a better chance of being the 1st pick over a lowly Buckeye?? After all, Barnes was voted as one of the 5 best players in all of college basketball....and he plays for UNC.

  Which is why I think it is ridiculous to vote a TRUE Freshman as a 1st team All-American before he plays his first game.
