Prescott
How many shots did he take? How many shots did he make? What were his shooting percentages? How many turnovers did he have ? Who were these tournament teams?.he scored 18,18,24,26 points against tourney teams in his freshman year. -

What I loved about duke's win over St.Louis was the fact that duke was pressing with a 25 point lead in the first half. and Singler, Smith, and Plumlee all played at least 30 minutes.Saint Louis is as substandard a team as I've seen, much like Oakland and Indiana University & Purdue University at Indianapo
For comparison sake, Syracuse had a blowout win over Colgate. Rickey Jackson player 25 minutes, while no other starter played more than 17 minutes.duke had similar rotation against an out-manned Bradley team. Nolan Smith was on the floor with 6 minutes left while duke was clinging to a 65-38 lead. Interesting, huh? -

I wasn't aware that playing tentatively in the first half was an obligatory gesture once a team has gotten to a certain point total. This is Division 1. Bring it or go coach a sport that embraces a stationary tee. What I loved about duke's win over St.Louis was the fact that duke was pressing with a 25 point lead in the first half.
Besides, the Saint Louis game was only Duke's second game back following Irving's injured toe. K was using this game to try different rotations and defensive/offensive sets, especially with Curry featured as a primary guard out front. Curry hadn't played a lot of meaningful minutes before Irving was sidelined, so it was great experience to have him going at it full-go. Also, without Kyrie in the game, the only fast break points we've been getting have been from turnovers, and we haven't forced nearly as many as we were with Kyrie in the lineup. We need to learn to play without Kyrie to be successful. -
Prescott
If that D1 team actually had a shot at winning the game. These sacriifical lambs have no chance , so a little bit of spiortsmanship would be nice. Don't you think?I wasn't aware that playing tentatively in the first half was an obligatory gesture once a team has gotten to a certain point total. This is Division 1. l likes to run it up. Admit it.K was using this game to try different rotations and defensive/offensive sets, especially with Curry featured as a primary guard out front. -

You are insane. When he gets it rolling he will obviously be a top 10 guard in the country.
So, the 4th best guard on duke's team is top 10 in the country. WOW!!!!!!!!!!
I would bet you have never heard of Tanner Milson. He is a 6'2" freshman guard, who plays for UNC-Wilmington.Last night, he hit 5/7 treys to help his team defeat Wake. That makes him an All-American candidate, right? Don't he 14 for his last 20 behind the arc. That's about 70% , right? Wait until he gets rolling. -
Prescott
First of all, it's called SARCASM. Secondly, I don't think SIGHTING is the correct the word. Look it up.LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL you are sighting a guard that plays for a lower tier team. GTFOH.If he was the real deal he would be playing in a real deal conference.
BTW, what real conference did Curry play in before transferr4ing to duke? -
Prescott
.Curry should of been at Duke to begin with
Shoulda, woulda, coulda. There is a reason that he wasn't pursued by bigger programs and it wasn't because he wasn't known.
You are so dense, you wouldn't understand sarcasm anyway.BTW, sarcasm from you isnt taken very well since your a huge troll doushe.
If you going to insult someone, you should be able to spell the insult word correctly.Otherwise, you look like an idiot. -
swamisezDuke is going to be fine.
The ACC is wayy down, and Duke still has 4 elite level NCAA basketball players (Singler, Smith, Mason Plumlee, and Andre Dawkins)
They will play a little slower pace, more deliberate offensively and will more than likely do less attacking and full court pressure on defense.
It will operate more like last years team, only with better skill players at all at least 4 positions.
30+ wins even without Irving, a number one seed in the NCAA tournament, and depending on draw another final four. If you can get there, you have a chance.
If KI returns they will be that much better, but as is this team is still loaded. Statistically they will probably drop in the ppg category but offensive and defensive efficiency will improve. With those numbers being one of the top numbers in the nation they will be fine come March. My only worry is that the league won't test them as much as last season and as a result Duke will have to be creative to win close games down the stretch. I wouldn't bet against Singler and Smith to do just that. -
PrescottI couldn't agree more. duke was fine as soon as Singler and Smith decided to return for their senior seasons.

Why do you care exactly? -
Prescott
I don't care. As I said, I find it interesting. Why do you care exactly?
Why is it interesting?
If you read the entire thread you would see that duke was being applauded for "Taking Care of Their Business." I was merely pointing out that some coaches "Take Care of their Business" without pressing while up 25 points and without playing their best players for 3/4 of the game. -
Prescott
Ok. So, the use of objectionable language is something you have always embraced?I spell it that way on purpose, its aJJ thing where you had to change the word or it would block it
Was "Citing" filtered out under the JJ rules? -
wildcats20Coach K said today on his radio show that Irving will be out "a long time."
AKA he is done for the year. -
swamisezI listened to that interview and right after he said he would be out a while, he said they can't rule out him returning either.
Nothing in this interview was different from what has been said in the last two weeks. -

Gotcha, obviously I didn't actually hear it; I just saw on the bottom line the quote. Figured it was worth posting, knowing one of you guys would know more details. -
swamisezCoach K said that they are planning his rehabilitation at the moment. Don't know what that would entail or when it would begin. They put him in a hard cast until they know when to begin.
Duke has been strangely mum on this, I am unsure why. Maybe K was consulted by a certain New England Patriots head coach this week. -
reclegend22It would appear from some of the more "in the know" posters on one of Duke's message boards that there may be an "objective date" for Irving's return, that being the second Carolina game in early March. That's pretty late in the season, but, as they say, later is better than never. However, at this point, it obviously is pure speculation and based on absolutely nothing, as far as I can tell.
Duke is a top three team with or without Irving (in my opinion, grouped with Kansas and, late in the season, Michigan State, with Ohio State not far removed). But with Irving, Duke is the best team in college basketball since the Blue Devils' 2001 edition, save for 2005 Carolina. As much as I hate UNC, that team was stacked, loaded with firepower and a great team. The thing that hurts the most about Irving's absence from an unapologetic fan's perspective is the very real idea that Duke could run the table with the kid running the show. I doubted the feasibility of this pursuit at first, but, funnily enough, now that Irving's sidelined and after going back and reviewing some of the Devils' early contests, I believe it. That's life. -
ironman02Don't worry, rec. They'll go undefeated even without Irving. The repeat is a sure thing...might as well hand the trophy over to K right now.
-
reclegend22Iron, I see what you did there. Damn you.
Whether or not Duke will have the ability to finish undefeated the rest of the season with Irving potentially out for the remainder of it remains to be seen. But Carolina unmistakably won't, and that is, well, really awesome.
Is Feb. 9 here yet? -
